Forums - Sony - Yahoo recognizes that the PS3 is in trouble

@libellule dude, I just saw it this morning, get out of my thread

Profit or marketshare?

The choice is simple: PROFIT. This is why all companies are in the industry. It's the struggle for marketshare that cost sony $3 bln. I think they've lost enough. Also, that yahoo video seems extremely american-centric

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

uhh duh!!! lol

@Xen

The 360 price cut had a significant affect in North america as well, 360 sales have doubled, and ps3 sales have taken a hit because of that. How can it not have worked?

As for japan, I think it was infinit undiscovery that pushed the hardware.

It ruined PS3 sales by a bit. But was there a significant 360 improvement? nope. 70k to 90? with a price cut THAT BIG it's almost nothing (as of now - let's see next weeks' numbers). The PS3 numbers were lower by about as much as the added 360 numbers. Which leads me to thinking that people who got 360's got them instead of PS3's.

As for Japan, it's not only IU... it's the cumulative 360 JRPG library that sold it well... and the price cut only helped the people who didn't get one before get one now.

they are pretty stupid it seems. when they claimed that the wii has been selling for 3 years i died of laughter last night when i watched it, Other hints at their negligence is when they claim 360's are flying off shelves( boxes can't fly) , and when they say that TFU is worth buying.

Actually, it is worth buying.

Since it looks like the Wii will probably be the 1st place system by a large margin, my attention has turned to the battle between the HD systems, or, more specifically, whether or not the PS3 will sit in 3rd place for the rest of this generation.

It's been outselling the 360 worldwide for many months, but it doesn't seem to be catching up fast enough..wonder if it can close the gap to around 4 million by January...

Its true that the 360 only gained 20k this week, but if all the gains came from prospective PS3 sales, then its still a worry for PS3. I am afraid with this price cut from M$ its put Sony in a similar situation to its early days when it was faced with potential buyers having second thoughts because of price. The PS3 now has a great games library, but its still facing its original problem: high price.
