I've been waiting for it, and now finally, approximately 8 months after launch, PS3 has reached the 1 million mark in Japan according to VGChartz... well, someone had to make this thread.
It was about time... I was already wondering... Could Wii reach more then 2.5 mil everywhere before PS3 hit more then 1 mil everywhere... ghehe 
... You've gotta admit... It took a long, LONG time for PS3 to get there!

That all depends on whose numbers you believe.
I think it's kinda obvious PS3 isn't selling as it should... Not nearly actually.
And those 5.5 mil which i believe you are refering too... Are shipped/sold to retailers. Which obviously isn't the same.

I didn't actually think there was a lot of variability in the japanese numbers. The various companies that record them tend to produce very similar numbers
With the release of Hot Shots Golf this summer there should be a significant increase in PS3 purchases. The console still has games like MGS, FFXIII, Gran Turismo, and White Knight Story. However, it's clear that the PS3 is not doing well.
Sometimes it hurts to go number 2.
Actually, it hasn't reached 1M yet, 997,808 is still about 2200 consoles short of it. Next week it will really be above 1M.

Yeah right... That's what you PS3 guys've been saying all year long... With Ninja gaiden Sigma, Folksouls and Gundam Mosou, my summer holiday 3 etc... It ain't gonna happen! When are you guys finally gonna realise?!... Is it SO HARD?! PS3 ain't gonna sell more than 15k a week. Period!
