Forums - Sony - If I were Sony, my response to the 360 pricecuts would be...

Offer the Everything PS3.  Include in the box:

1.  One of their fall AAA games

2.  HDMI cable (they are dirt cheap)

3.  A Bluetooth headset

and if I could dream :)...

4.  Software backwards compatability with the PS2...I feel like they are working on this but who really knows!

Edit:  All this at the current price point...

They should include the necessary cables for HD connections in the box, I think everyone can agree.  If they don't, it shows one thing: they're trying to shaft the consumer.

Nothing. If I cut prices, then it would be a sign of weakness, and the competitor would know that I don't think my product is worth the asking price.

People should want to work 2 jobs just to play my system

Exactly. Pricing prestige ftw !! Its all about value perceived and the relative prices customers would pay for a high value quality product and at its current price point I'll actually say the PS3 is pretty cheap =]

- 50$ price cut in NA (maybe)

- Wipeout HD EVERYWHERE (bundle/BR/PSN)

- more bundle with more games inside

=> Wipeout HD
=> Motorstorm2
=> Resistance
=> LBP

Time to Work !

SONY has no choice they NEED to drop price

If you don't cut prices then the competitor increases marketshare , your console becomes irelevant price prestige won't help you much then . The average person would have to make a bit of a stretch to buy 0.5 X  the cost of a PS3 it makes sense to cut the price to increase it's affordability.

cut the price, even $50 price drop creates some demand and momentum.

If I were Sony I'd wait a while to see if a trend develops with increased 360 sales and then I'd decide on my response.

I am largely platform agnostic. I fail to understand why some people get overly fanboyish about what is an inanimate piece of electronics that's obsolete even before it's launched, when there are far more important things to champion, such as preventing environmental destruction or preventing millions of people dying unnecessarily from illnesses. This fact however, doesn’t mean I am not someone who doesn’t enjoy gaming as a pastime (as I have done for the last 20 years) or doesn’t have a strong interest in how the market is evolving – hence my presence on this site.

Platforms owned – PC, DS, X-Box 360, PS3, PSP and Wii.

Yeah i agree , with my above posts I was assuming that the 360 price cut would push it infront of the PS3. But yeah , waiting to see what strategy to take would be the most logical move.

The PS3 headset is coming with SOCOM :)

You do realize Microsoft packs an HDMI worth at most $30 in the Xbox360 Elite and charges an extra $50 for it?

Microsoft is the master of screwing their customers. I had a friend who very recently bought an Xbox360 and told me the system comes with only a 90 day warranty for free. If you want the 2 year and 3 months warranty (yeah, it's not even 3 years anymore) you have to pay Microsoft an extra $60. How courteous of them..........not. PS3 comes with a free 1 Year warranty out of box, so your system is covered for longer than you can have a game covered by it's manufacturer. Tell me again now, who's trying to shaft the customer?
