I honestly dont think the wii is supply constraint anymore.. even gamestop has them(atleast my my area).

Maybe that is how you honestly feel but only because you didn't do any research.  Ebay and Amazon are still selling Wii for above MSRP.  Bestbuy.com, Target.com, and Costco.com (which only sells bundles which are less likely to sell out) are the 1st 3 retailers I tried and they are all sold out.  If Wii did not have supply problems; then, I'd expect sales to be much, much higher.

360 price cut did help quite significantly, i dont know why people have expected more, it should last for few weeks.

Ds and the Wii continue to be insane, nice 20k boost for the Wii always good to see. PSP selling all right, nothing brilliant (it should increase with the release of 3000) PS3 low, but they should recover.

I dont think anyone really believes that PS3 can overtake the Wii, man it will take long time before 360 gets beaten by it.

Have any of the previous price cuts this gen led to anything other than a couple-week boost in sales?

Yes.  A 360 price cut in the US did that.

The numbers are very interesting for this past week, particularly the 360 Japan numbers, but isn't it possible that the real story will be told by what happens, collectively, from now until middle Dec? And then January for Non-NA sales?

Wii- Dominates
360 - Is the Shizzznitte
PS3 - Doooooooomed, LOL, (I had to say it cause I hear it all the time about 360).

On a serious note.....great numbers for the 360. PS3 did surprisingly well with no price cut, and no games...(cough), I mean no games.....this week.

Leo-j,

How many times have you written that exact statement in the last 12 months? While I do agree they are easier to find in the wild, I was at a Target, Best Buy, Walmart, 2 Gamestops, and an indie store called Game Force in the last 2 days... not one Wii or Wii Fit in stock at any of them. I know Target had a large shipment of Wii's & Wii Fits last week, and in my area of Florida they were gone in 2 days.  Wait until Christmas......

360 Arcades were sold out at most of those stores (I saw them at Best Buy & 1 Gamestop only). Christmas will be good to the 360 as well (especially the gimped Arcade)

360 Premium, 360 Elite, PS3 in stock at all of the above.

Overall I expect all consoles and handhelds to sell very well this holiday as well, but Wii/DS/Arcade will rule in that order.

BAM! There it is!

Wii Code 3456 7941 4060 2924
COD MW Reflex 541192229709

The 360's price drop will really help microsoft these holidays.

The Wii is a monster.

The Xbox360 did a good job. I don't know what some of you expected. Last week the 360 sold 90k (1 or 2 days price-cut, not sure.) And this week again 90k. Last week the sales before the price-cut must have been very low, so I guess 70k of the 90k happened in those 2 days after the price-cut. So plus 90k this week, we have 160k in 8-9 days.

DS did as good as usual.

PS3 below 50k. I guess Xbox360 received some of those sales. Lucky Sony that Europe is very pro Playstation brand.

PSP not as good as usual, probably because of the PSP 3000.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

so now people comment or wii, :) we all know about wii sales since who knows

anyway good sales for xbox 360, when people said it is only for 1 week.

then it is actually already 2nd week xbox 360 >> PS3 in september

and dont forget i think vgchart somehow undertracked xbox 360 number.

Good numbers for Xbox360.
Not as good as I thought it would be.

But I'm sure more people will buy x360 this holiday season than last year.
unless the economy tanks.
