For some reason my, pre-ordered, PlayTV has arrived today, a day earlier than it's release date. I looked on the site i ordered it from (www.gameplay.co.uk) and they still say it's going to be released tomorrow so delivery error yay :D.

Unfortunately i can't open it until saturday as it's my birthday present :( But still has anyone else received it early or ordered it from this site?

At least here in Finland some retailers send pre-ordered stuff two days early to ensure they arrive in time. Usually they seem to reach the customer a day early, though, but I don't mind. It shouldn't really be a big deal and the reason they do so is definitely good.

No, I haven't pre-ordered PlayTV; there's need for it but it's not been released here yet (in fact, its release date hasn't even been announced).

Cool that you got it. I got SSBB 1 day after release when I ordered from Walmart, and I chose the free 5-7 day shipping.

In America it seems like a useless product though, as most places only have like 5 channels over air, and you get a DVR with what seems to be all the same features for free/cheap from most cable providers.

Unfortunately from DirectTV, the HD DVR anyway, it's $200. Way too much for something that's only useable with one service.

i live in america so it doesnt work because of the analog broadcasting i think it'll start working in february

Actually, It probably won't work in February either, as they do broadcast in digital already.

The US uses ATSC as the digital broadcasting standard, which I think is different than in the rest of Europe, so an imported unit wouldn't be compatible.

Well, I live in NY, and pretty much everywhere but NYC only gets a handful of stations.

I personally only get ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS (public broadcasting) and MY43, which I don't know how national they are.

Up in watertown there is like 1 more station, but I've looked at the maps for NY and there really aren't any.
