Ranged or casting classes such as the Amazon or Sorceress in Diablo II.

Usually sometype of Ranger class. You know amazing with bows, yet when they get close whip out some short swords or something.

for mass effect then that was (was it sniper?) I don't know either way the combat was way boring in that game. And yes i tried other classes.

Oh and if no a ranger then like a monk.

Ranger's the best though.  You get some spells, a familiar anima.  You can dual weild pretty easy, and kill most enemies before they get to you with your bow.

Usually I prefer some sort of rogue class so i can shank people in the back

Mage

Melee ones, like Warriors, Paladin, etc. I feel it´s easier to play with these classes the first time you are playing a game. On my 2nd playthrough I choose a spell caster.

If it's an RPG type game, I always go caster.

If it's a fighting game, I either go with the well balanced characters or the ones who have a bit of an edge in speed.

1. Preferably woman
2. Preferably mage/magic user if theres no woman char skip this step.
3. Preferably missile weapon user if theres no woman char skip this step.
4. Melee char if theres no woman char go to 2 and skip woman parts.
Am I sovinist or do I just like women, you decide.

In FPS games I like medic. Usually they have a decent weapon + they're able to help their teammates. They're useful.

In RPGs... Hmm, a little harder. I like trying many classes. Usually I try to combine a few.

Necromancer

i usually pick the oddball
necromancer in diablo 2
shadow priest in wow,
sometimes caster, sometimes tank, it really depends on which skills they have. But i tend to like characters that may be underpowered but look awesome as all hell and takes real skill to become an art.
