Forums - General - New Obama Ad

I think the best part of the ad is the encouragement to read the plan that obama has devised. If you agree with him or not, I think everyone should make an informed decision and read the plan.

I am curious as to why people believe Obama when he says he is going to give the middle tax cuts... Since he has been in the senate he has voted 96 times to either raise taxes or not cut taxes on the middle class.... and that is out of 96 opportunities. I want to beleive him, but I just am not conviced we are going to see a night and day difference between what he will do and what he has done.

As in TV adverts?

Politicians actually use those in the states?

In the UK it is illegal for a party to run their own adverts on TV, they are each given the same amount of minutes on the BBC in which the broadcast is free. No more television advertising is allowed outside of this.

Excellent ad. I was an still am planning to vote for McCain, but my mind is not closed off. I think there's about a 10% chance at this point that I will vote for Obama; I am waiting for the debates when they are forced to say what their plans are. I am glad Obama took the first step and tried to lay it out on the table. McCain's distract attack IS annoying, and Obama expertly implied that without saying it. I think Palin's effect is done thanks to the economy and Barack figuring out how to shrug off McCains attack pit bull (with lipstick).

I wish we had something more like this.  The system is pretty out of control here.  Thanks "freedom of speech"!

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. it was boring so i stopped watching it. ads have to grab peoples attention.

What, like flash hate messages about John McCain?

He talked super briefly about the most important issues in the upcoming election, and he spoke very straightforward, something the "straight talker" McCain doesn't do so much anymore.

There are things I dislike about both candidates, but there is so much wrong with John McCain and Sarah Palin that I can't not vote for Obama.

What don't you like about each candidate? I'll list what I don't like

Barack Obama

1. Took Cocaine

2. In my opinion, his is not qualified/barely qualified and will either learn on the job and be great, or be anohter Jimmy Carter.

3. He wants to increase taxes on the rich, which is bad for me.

4. I disagree with alot of Barack Obamas views; about as much as I disagree with Palin's views

John McCain

1. His explosive temper due to being in a POW camp could cause him to make bad decisions (pyhcotic?)

2. His is not technically savvy, and lacks mobility due to his arms being broken.

3. Sarah Palin is not qualified to be president in my opinion, and McCain is old and times are tough so if he wins there is a good chance he will die.

4. I don't really agree with alot of Sarah Palins views; I am more socially liberal and conservative economically, while Palin is far-right wacko conservative socailly, and economically moderate.

No political system is perfect. All are disorganized to some degree. Have you seen the british house of commons? "parump parump parump HUZAH!" We may have crazy ads, but every system has some element of caos for one reason or another.

This stigma still exists?  It's fricking cocaine.

Bush did cocaine, and even had cocaine charges brought against him in Houston.

McCain's wife is a pill-popper.

But the point is, WHO CARES. I don't give a shit what a politician did when they were younger. Hell, I would almost be happier if they had all tried pot, LSD, and a bunch of other hallucinogens as I think they would have a broader view of the world and human nature.

Well, it's all about fairness. Right-wing parties are more likely to be supported by corporations, and rich guys, who will be willing to donate a lot to keep taxes down, and shit. This gives some parties far more money than others, and can give them an unfair advantage, and that's not really democratical.
