the game got 1.5 stars because 30 people gave it a 1. This drm is going to ruin the sales of crysis warhead, so crytek is going to go consoles now. Great job EA!

We're talking about people who probably never even played Crysis Warhead. They're people who are simply trolling. And I'll say that they're the same guys who trolled Spore for it's DRM.

The DRM was never that bad, and EA's future implementations are going to make the DRM way better (increase of activations, and recovery of used activations through unistallation)

*sigh* does the DRM actually screw up the computer or something? I don't know why everyone hates it so much so could someone clarify?

DRM is hated because it reduces the control you have over your purchases. Some DRM is much more restrictive than others (which is why some people don't mind Steam). For example, Spore contained DRM that only allowed you to do 3 installations before you were locked out and needed to call EA in the hope they would allow you to install it again. It is THEIR decision if you are allowed to install your game. While EA might not go out of business anytime soon, imagine you've purchased a title which in 5 years time you want to replay, but you can't install it because of the DRM, and the company that produces the game is no longer in business to allow you to play it.

Personally I don't like Steam either. While generally people haven't been bitten by it, I dislike the fact that Valve has complete control over whether I can play games I have purchased. I've heard of cases of people who have breached the TOS for a single game, and because every game the have bought is linked to a single account, once their account was disabled, not only did they lose access to the game they breached, but also every other title. When you "buy" a game from steam, you are actually subscribing to the service (hence they can cancel your subscription...)

DRM also removes the rental/resale market (and in my opinion, the main target of DRM). No longer can you buy a game and once you have finished it, sell it later. You also can't purchase a game, your mate purchase a different game, and when you are both done, lend the games to each other.

To top it all off, DRM only affect legit consumers as well. Pirates aren't stuck with any of these hassles because the crackers work around all this stuff. So the pirates not only get the game for free, but get a better product than those who have spent money on it.

Seriously, shut the fuck up. The DRM in Spore allows you to install an UNLIMITED times!! Not just 3, but infinite times. God, I bet most people don't even understand how Spore's DRM works...

Right on! I like to see the people take a stand. and the low score isn't because fanboys went on their 3 weeks before its relelase and was like Yeah I played it it suxzors, I have no evidence to base this claim, but WII603 FTW!!.

He he Piracy won't hurt them nearly as bad as people not buying it cause of their BS. I hope this hurts EA big time!

Do you own stocks in EA or something? DRM is rubbish and no serious gamer should be defending it. Why are you so accepting that these companies assume you are infriging their copyright and you have to prove to them otherwise (and even then they still don't have to believe you)?

Perhaps we should put everyone in prison and only release them once they've proven they haven't commited any crimes?

Great, so that's yet another game I was looking forward to that I won't be buying.

Can you imagine if you'd installed Crysis Warhead, Spore, Mass Effect and Red Alert 3 and changed your hardware a couple of times and ran out of activations? You'd have to ring EA on their premium rate 'support' number and beg them to let you play four games you've paid good money for, all because they want to kill the second hand market. No chance, EA can shove it, I don't care how good their games are, I don't pay full price for a rental.

Even if you're correct, the confusion over the issue is entirely EA's fault. If they can't effectively communicate to their customer base, they will pay the price for that.

The mass market likes it when things are kept simple. Shortsighted businesses like to complicate things because confusion gives experts more power. Consumers shouldn't have to invest an hour of research into the details of DRM on a product before they decide if the purchase is worthwhile.

Some of his complaints were valid.  Being childish and telling somebody to "shut the fuck up" does little to make your argument (or lack thereof) worth being taken seriously.
