people like different types of drinks, people like different kind of drinks. i dont think having diet coke, or corono hurts either the soda industry or beer industry. sony and microsoft can continue compete against each other for better graphics. but they are ignoring the potential market of potential gamers, or casual gamers, or people who like party games. games are games. if you say 1 company hurts the gaming industry, you're basically claiming nintendo IS THE WHOLE GAME INDUSTRY. but then again, it's only an opinion.

Currently loving my Wii x2, Xbox 360 Pro & Xbox 360 Arcade, and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Limited "Cloud Black" 160GB PS3

GAMEFLY & GOOZEX FTW

Haha, you can go rent "The Sound of Music"

Wii Code 8761-5941-4718-0078

Is it me or this thread sounds very selfish? Besides, okay it's okay not to like those games... But if you don't then it's your problem... I'm sorry but I often enjoy DDR and such as much as I love to play RPGs during hours and hours (sometimes not sleeping)...

So now what? I'm a cusual hardcore player? I don't get what's with people's big pride/ego with that term... Like if it was some sort of trophy...

...but Diet Coke isn't the real thing! All carbonated beverage drinkers know the only good coke is the regular coke!

Nintendo, self proclaimedely, was never about the games. They've always held the position that they're about the "Entertainment". The entertainment market is much larger than the gaming market.

this threat of full of sarcasms.
and what's with the QFT-ing? Something suddenly becomes truth when somewhere in the world, another person agrees with you? Perhaps, you should use QFE instead of QFT...

This is how the video games industry grows up, stops being elitist - and starts appealing to everyone.

A bit like the movie or music industry (how many movies or songs come out that DON'T appeal to any one person? No one complains about that - because we are all used to it).

Welcome to the generation of the non-gamer.

Bring it on!

Ok, then welcome to the generation in which I can't stop vomitting, starting..... now... BLARGGGGGGG (cont)

This is a bunch of bollocks... people are saying that Nintendo isn't about the hardcore games any more because their press conference didn't focus on those games massively?

What are people nuts?

Some of the biggest and best games coming out of Nintendo in recent times are at E3, Mario Galaxy and Metroid are two of them... and then there are many more coming out after that.

What is wrong with Nintendo filling their typically long gaps with other types of games to keep their sales momentum up which will in turn cause better 3rd party games to be released on the Wii because it has a much higher install base?

Some people need to get their mindsets right... this E3 has been hardcore impressive for me, and has put me back into a little bit of a Nintendo 'favour' which was disappearing lately... Mario Galaxy is going to be one of the best games of all time, I haven't heard such glowing hands on of a game in... well since the N64 generation!

I'm really not sure whether people are more afraid that the new gamers Nintendo brings into the market will leave or that they won't leave ... The fact is that neither is likely to happen in the way that people fear.

  • Non-Traditional gamers are probably not going to enter the market with enough influence to completely dominate the attention of the publishers
  • Non-Traditional gamers are probably not going to leave the market so quickly that the sales of games targeted towards these gamers flop
  • Non-Traditional gamers will probably buy a lot of 'Borderline' games which appeal to both core gamers and Non-Traditional gamers
  • Non-Traditional gamers will probably buy a few core games that interest them
