This thread title is the funniest thing I've read on here in a long time...Apple would go bankrupt if they tried to enter the console war.
I can almost promise you that.

nintendo had/has a loyal base - it's just every generation that base got smaller. apple entering the market will not stop sony from entering the next generation cause they will be there regardless. but if their marketshare worsens next gen over this gen then maybe they'll call it quits in 2 generations from now. my money is MS drops out before sony though.
Apple will be willing to sell a console at a loss! Do you think an I phone that has hardware as powerful as a Dreamcast with wi fi, GPS, and touch screen and as small as it is would retail for $199 initially? They launched it at $599 and $699 and that was the right price, they are just trying to buy marketshare now.
Microsoft isnt going anywhere Kitler, and the article from Kotaku says that Apple has over $20 billion in cash reserves at the moment. I dont think they are even close to going bankrupt anytime soon.
Apple are not willing to sell anything at a loss. Do you even know the insane profit margins on the iMac and iPod? I don't, but I know they are insanely big.
Why would Sony leave the console business? They are way more successful than Microsoft in the gaming business. All they would need to do next gen, is to release a console for $299 at a profit. That would guarantee at least second place. Neither Microsoft or Apple would stand a chance against that, only Nintendo would.

uhmm no, anyways Microsoft is at a bigger risk of leaving the market whether Apple releases a console or not .....which Apple will not do. Sony has a long term strategy and this is still phase one.
"What have i done.? Is it too late to save me from this place? From the depths of the grave? We all are those .. who thought we were brave."
is Sony leaving the market such a big deal for everyone?
Why have i seen so many threads about it. They have one bad selling console and it's "oh they should skip next gen."
ms had one bad selling console and nintendo had 2, and 15 peripherals that failed.
sometimes being illogical can prove which company you hold true to.

But sony is close to being bankrupt?
Its all about the expenses involved in the console business. Sony lost about $-3-4 billion and Microsoft lost about $6-7 billion. If a forth huge corporation like Apple comes in, it makes competition all the worse. Just from a financial standpoint, Sony seems to be at the most disadvantage in being able to compete.
