Forums - General - Two for one thread!!!

Pick one or both. I don't care...

Topic Number 1:

Theses ads... I didn't mind them at first... Then they started talking, telling me I won something and saying hello. Then they went into a monologue about some college I don't care about. Now, first thing I see is BAM! Visit VGChartz Store, or BAM! Viva Pinata(SP) 2. Yes, this site needs money, but can we stop the IN YOUR FACE!!!! advertising? What are your thoughts?

Topic Number 2:

Obama criticized Mccain for not being able to E-mail. I was like huh... Possible leader of the free world couldn't send an email? That'd be bad. So I did some Google searches and found this from a Boston Globe article in 2000... "McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes". Oops. Well, Mccain can't send email's, Obama is making fun of a cripple... What are your thoughts?

It is pretty bad if you can't even write an email...I mean McCain was totally honest about it...but still...technology is a vital part of both our economy and national defense. It is a real handicap to not be able to have even a basic understanding of technology yourself.

ioi is working to get rid of the talking adds. Are you in the EU? It might be a little bit longer then...but he is working on it.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

But, do want someone making fun of a cripple to be president? But, then again, that brings up the question of us having a crippled president... Could go well with our modern economy... Whatever. Let's have an anarchy for a couple of years, have a dictator for 2 years, then a king, then back to a Republic... It'd rock...

Topic #2:

Oh it's not just the fingers thing, it's that McCain is like... allergic to technology. He's afraid of it or something. One the one hand, he says his wife is teaching him how to use e-mail, but he also believes his wife is addicted to gadgets. Then there are people in his campaign who claim he invented the BlackBerry, even though it was invented in Canada.

I'm sure he has an assistant who could install some voice-activated typing software for him and arrange a simple way to turn it on and off that wouldn't hurt. You're telling me Stephen Hawking can write books without moving his body and a potential president can't use e-mail because he has injured fingers?

Also, there's a great soundbyte (available on the YubeTube) of McCain saying that when it comes to picking a V.P., it's "basically a Google." So it's nice to know he uses the indefinite article A, meaning there are multiple Googles out there. This is of course in contrast with the Bush policy of calling it "The Googles," which makes me think of a royal family or a sitcom.

We've had less-than-fully-abled presidents before. Wheelchairs, wooden teeth, dyslexia, and hearts of stone come to mind. Bill Maher even has a pretty good argument that Bush 2 is schizophrenic.

Topic 1: I think ioi is working on that. At least for me, the ads have been much less annoying lately. freeing me to use Chrome, which doesn't have a, you know..

Topic 2: Well, Rutherford Hayes was afraid to turn an electric lightbulb on or off, and he didn't turn out too bad....(he wasn't too good either, but at least McCain can turn the light on without asking the servants to do it)

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Yeah, hearts of stone. I think Teddy had 2 of them in his neck.

I also think one of our presidents suffered from Chronic Presidential Boner Syndrome.

Awesome.... just awesome. Also we've had a president so fat that he got stuck in the presidential bathtub. Are current president is an alcoholic crack addict, one biologically changed from a male actor to a saggy old woman(also known as Reagan), and at least five presidents which suffered from severe Jungle fever.
