They'll be selling so many games this holiday that they may be able to mask most of the losses (plus jasper will be cheaper). They might make a loss but it probably wont be as much as people think it'll be.

Their entire entertainments division had a loss. That includes many products including the 360. There is no way to discern how individual products performed. |
That's Microsoft's way of playing off their loss, they aren't going to give you official numbers, and when someone hints at the 360 losing them money all the fans play it off too. It's almost undeniable that the 360 was not profitable (Hardware wise- due to production costs and unreliability), and now with worldwide price cuts you know they won't be making money off it.
We all know Microsoft has more money than they know what to do with, and from recent interviews with MS personnel we know their main goal is to do as much damage to Sony as they can, regardless of the cost. These price-cuts are evidence of that.

Why Microsoft? What has Sony ever done to anyone.....oh, excuse me Sega, didn't see you there. :) (j/k I'm a Sony and Sega fan btw)

WTF? Sega fan and a Sony fan? How do you that?

CHOOSE ONE SIDE OR DIE !!!.
Ok look, the pwning of Sega is the one thing I have against Sony. Other than that, I'm a Sony fanboy. I feel so pressured to choose......I love both, but if I had to pick I pick Sony, Playstation = FTW.
but I still love Sega.........lol

They took a lost last quarter because they bought out a company, do some research before trolling.

I love how people make this stuff up they think price cut and MS is doing it to lose money they are doing it cause it makes buisness sense. MS likes money. Article posted July 18th. Link posted also. I know there is more than the 360 in the divsion but it made money and keeps making money and even after the price cut it will make money (just not as much)
PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.
Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

Actually purchases don't show up as losses on financial statements anyway. Its an aquisition of an asset, not a liability. So no link needed. Btw - Its uncertain how much the Xbox 360 profited or lost as its stuck in the same division as a lot of loss making endeavors like the Microsoft surface computer initiative which I doubt has much to show for a lot of R+D for example. Nor do I think they are profitably selling/marketing Zunes either.

Thread finished. But of course we will still see irrelevant and unsupported claims from those who WISH the 360 division were taking a loss, but know they can't prove it, just like we can't prove the 360 is profitable either.

But we can prove the division the xbox is in is profitbale and MS is profitable so therefore we can surmise the doom and gloom of the price cuts is just people mad cause MS made a good buiness decsion and took the momentum back from Sony and may even cut into the WII

i didn't think they were losing money recently, but were just gaining from the huge loss they had.
I'm sure they are just cutting into profits a little instead of just losing ground. Unless they are just really confidant in the library.
