That's Microsoft's way of playing off their loss, they aren't going to give you official numbers, and when someone hints at the 360 losing them money all the fans play it off too. It's almost undeniable that the 360 was not profitable (Hardware wise- due to production costs and unreliability), and now with worldwide price cuts you know they won't be making money off it.
We all know Microsoft has more money than they know what to do with, and from recent interviews with MS personnel we know their main goal is to do as much damage to Sony as they can, regardless of the cost. These price-cuts are evidence of that.
