ROFL. Why don't they just surrender in Spain? That region is a Sony lock, the PS3 is even in front of the Wii.

Just like sony should pull out from the american market because they're getting destroyed by nintendo and ms? Not to mention the japanese market, where the ps3 is below 10k/week?
Anyways the march price-cut was epic because it overlapped with a local burger king promotion. The first 4 days of the price cut you could buy the arcade for 150€ here in spain - they cleaned out all the inventory in a couple days.

Never assume that unless they specifically state they are from GfK (or NPD/Chart-Track/Media Create/Famitsu)

So it seems PS3 is at 700k in Spain according to Gfk. No date mentioned, but since it is a recent article it seems likely the numbers are pretty up to date as well. Too bad no other platforms are mentioned, but seeing the article is really about Blu-Ray it is no surprise.
These are from James Armstrong, SCEE Vice President in charge of Southern Europe:
October LTD:
PS2: 4,838,000
PSP: 1,914,000
PS3: 731,000
Usually I would assume numbers from manufacturers to be shipped, but the 731k PS3 is too low to be shipped after we had GfK figures of 700k two months ago. Shipped numbers are usually rounded too, and Armstrong has given out GfK numbers in the past, so I'm guessing these are probably GfK numbers.

Hasta octubre el parque de consolas de videojuegos de Sony era de 731 mil de PlayStation 3, 1.914.000 de PSP (portátil) y 4.838.000 de la PlayStation 2. Does this mean start of October or end of October? Link |
I think it's start of October, but I'm not sure. As I said in the other post, isn't PS3 overtracked in Spain? Even including Portugal you said their numbers were about 15% of Spain's data, so they should be about 110k. Total sales Spain+Portugal=841k at start of October. I can't believe PS3 has sold 293k in 7 weeks, that would be around 1/3 of total sales!
Is there anything else I don't know or the data is seriously overtracked?
Well, I don't know about seriously, I would expect PS3 sales to have picked up in October and November due to PES release and seasonal increases, but yeah, I think it's unlikely to be quite as high as VGC have it.

If you take a look at VGC data you'll see PS3 has sold 117k since the beginning of october in Spain.
293k would be too much for so little time even with PES. You have also to take into account that PS3 sales are slowing down in Spain. In the period we are talking about Wii and 360 sales are higher than PS3 and I think that never happened before in a similar amount of time.
If the numbers include Portugal, the name should be corrected to "Iberia" instead of "Spain".
