Ah, I see.  What is the extrapolation method based on those numbers?  I did a quick check on Bungie.net's Halo 3 numbers and MGC is about 40% of those.  Is this consistent across all games?

Anywho, the fact that it is sold out in 2 of the biggest game stores around should indicate the game is meeting or exceding sales expectations.

If you go by MGC extrapolations (the website I get XBLA data from), Rock Band 2 is slated to sell anywhere from 400,000-500,000 units this week in North America.

This is far more than anecdotal. This is fact: Rock Band 2 has more players this week than Grand Theft Auto IV according to MGC. Very few games get to wedge themselves in the top-5 very quickly, but Rock Band 2 has. I would be shocked if it sold below 350,000 units. And lets not forget: the bundle isn't even out yet. RB2 could sell well over 1m copies before the bundles launch for the other systems.

Damn...Im lucky to have gotten a copy when i did.

It made Gamestop's 3rd best selling game so it must be doing well. I'm jealous I don't get to play it on my Ps3 till next month lol.

It really varies from game to game. Some games are more/less depending on the rate of internet penetration - So offline games may be skewed against what MGC is showing. However, it's a good litmus test to see how good games are doing against eachother.

I think growth is somewhat limited by their inability to deliver the new instruments. I'm not sure if they are trying to get rid of the old inventory of instruments or what.

I'm not sure they were trying to grow their maket here. I think this is more of an early gift to owners of previous rockband package. Since xbox360 sold the most it made sense to give those owners an early peak of the game... I don't think they were planning to expand the userbase much with this xbox 360 early launch.

Anyone that played the first one will go apeshit for the songlist on this one...I literally have over 200 songs i can play now when I count all the DLC, transfered rockband 1 setlist and rockband 2 stuff...and there is 20 more songs apparently coming.

Played it last night with my kids.
it's pretty much the same as the first one - new songs.

Adding the cymbals will make it better.
also thinking about getting the bass guitar.
