ps3 is still to expensive is not worth buying it.
If you got a 720p tv, then by all means. You don't need 1080p as mostly only PSN games run in it anyways. Tell your parents they are bitches too.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
I'm all for gameplay over graphics. And if you REALLY want to play the games the PS3 has to offer you, then what are you waiting for, buy one!
However, if you're on the fence, I'd hold on until you get a decent HD TV. I played my PS3 for a while on an SDTV, and it wasn't pretty. It's not just the graphics, but many games aren't nearly as playable, because the games aren't meant for SDTV. Details are lost, text is unreadable, etc.
I would not buy a PS3 without a HD tv, even a 360 is a big MAYBE (I started with a 360 and a CRT tv and whilst it looked alright, it didn't really seem like a huge step from PS2).
Actually I take that back, get a HD tv, I remember needing to squint to read writing text (even some games I couldn't read it at all it was so small).
Aside from perhaps MGS4, there is nothing the PS3's library has at the moment that would make you not regret waiting for a HD TV first. (That's not an indication of the quality of the library, more so that PS3 on SD is definitely not worth it).

You''re not far from getting reported, ahcheng/LPNA.
On topic, try to convince your parents into letting you have it in the living room. With showing them blu-ray movies, for example.
Most PS3 games don't fare well on SDTV's. Same problem with 360.
