Forums - Sales - REQ: Sales data of Nintendo first-party titels on Wii and GameCube

Hey there folks,

I'm currently working on a small article dealing with the Wii and its supposed success in bringing in new customers to the market. But what I still need is some sales data of Nintendo's first-party titles on Wii and GameCube. I'm especially interested in the following figures:

Super Mario Galaxy vs. Super Mario Sunshine

Mario Kart Wii vs. Double Dash

Metroid Prime Corruption vs. Metroid Prime 1

So what I'm looking for is basically sales figures of how many copies were sold (in the same time period since its initial release - total or in the US, Europe & Japan) of title X on Wii compared to their GameCube counterparts. Also, data for the amout of consoles sold up to that point would be helpful.

Can someone maybe get in touch with me and provide me with thoses figures?

Thanks,

TOM

Best bet is to use this site's game database. http://vgchartz.com/games/

Then type in what you're looking for and take notes. The Chartz option is usually good for direct comparisons but it's only using the Japanese numbers for the GC games you mentioned right now for some odd reason.

I would have suggested using the following tool, but it doesn't seem to be returning accurate data.

Yeah, Like I said, cube games are only using the Japanese numbers for some reason.

double dash: 4.67 million (LTD)

mario kart wii: 6.42 million (as of june 30 2008)

super mario sunshine: 5.5 million (LTD)

super mario galaxy: 6.1 milion (as of march 31 2008)

metroid prime: 1.82 million (LTD)

metroid prime 3: 1.39 million (LTD)

By me:

You will have to do your own leg work with a combination of

http://vgchartz.com/games/

&

http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php

that should contain all the info you need, granted there are no weekly sales form most GC games in NA and EU. No one will give you dump of the DB.

Of course, but all I could find on those gamecube games mentioned above is data from Japan and not from the US or Europe.

Thanks, but those numbers doesn't really help me. If I want to compare those figures, then I need data from the same period of time. Say for example Super Mario Galaxy has been on store shelves for 11 month, than I'd need data how many copies of Sunshine when over the counter for the the same number of month after the release.

I'm sorry, but is that some kind of inside joke? :-p

The site does not have weekly data in the US or EU before the start of this generation.
