Forums - Gaming - Peter Moore - Sony didn’t deliver with the Emotion Engine and Killzone 2

 ^^^Hot and bothered

The irony might be delicious, but what I've said is true =)

Then you must be Hot and Bothered by everyone else.  I hope you don't run out of high blood pressure pills.

You keep dodging the issue, maybe is there something you don't want to talk about? Like how Sony overpromises to sell their products?

Why are you guys getting hot and bothered about it?

It's a fact Sony has always used this trick to sell their consoles. We are now approaching 2 years into the ps3 lifespan and there's many people on this very forum clinging on the hopes of Cell powerz that were sold to them and never delivered.

And it's not just the gaming division. I work with pro video equipment and Sony is always using that same trick to sell their gear. They create a good sounding buzzword (Exmor! CineAlta!) and promise the heaven. Sony reps always go the same way "This [product] features the new amazing technology [POWERHADFX/EXMOR/CINEALTA/BRIGHTERA] enabling it to deliver the best image!".

Oh, so that is the issue.  I see nothing wrong with showcasing what a product can do and what it is capable of.  If for some reason some of those features and/or plans have to be scrapped because of legistics, lack of market demand, and/or financial burden, that's fine because these things happen all the time in trade shows and in the marketplace.  If a product interests me before release, I see it for what it can do, what it can do for me, and is this realisticly possible in the marketplace.  If everything falls through, great.  If not, I see if the produce can still service me.  If not, I just don't buy it.  I don't take it personal.

EDIT: Sorry for the odd format. My work browser...

killzone 2 is better than the 05 trailler and what i can say for the ps2 you alreay all know

There's nothing to be taken personally (unless you dumped 600$ on a ps3, ouch) but Peter Moore ain't that far from the truth. That's the way Sony marketing operates on a global level: overpromising and buzzwords.

He is right, Sony spoke so much shit about the ps2, they said it would have Toy Story 2 graphics etc. If was not for the ridiculous sony hype, the DC might have had more of a chance.
If you compare what games the DC had and what the ps2 had in its first 2 years, I would take the DC anyday.

I had a Genesis, a Sega CD and a Saturn, so naturally I went with a Dreamcast and it was a mistake.  My PS2 was way way way better.

You know for a fact that it's common for most companies to use hype to push products.  If smart enough, just see past it since it's so commonplace.  And your statement "unless you dumped 600$ on a ps3, ouch" is very telling of your biasness and singleling out against SONY.

Hey, everyone likes what they like, but the Toy Story comment was inaccurate.

If you were a gamer, in the short timespan that the dreamcast was alive...you definetly got your moneys worth.

True, but they don't hype empty buzzwords. You ask a sony rep what exmor is and he'll tell you it's the most amazing thing on the planet. You ask a jvc rep what prohd is and he'll tell you it's HDV capturing progressive. Slight difference there.

The comic was the only good thing posted in this thread.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Yeah, he's right about the PS2 but it's a shame he's stuck in the year 2000.

He's wrong about killzone though (two obviously not one, LOL)
