yes, sony will drop the price in EU and Jap. they can afford to do so there. so it wont matter about the xbox price cut.

Yay for Microsoft great for euro gamers.

Proud Owner of  a Wii and Xbox 360 and a PS3(When I get the money)

I guess MS was serious about beating Sony for second place. They have cut prices in ever major region and just before the holiday season. It will be interesting to see what kind of effect it has on the weekly worldwide sales race.

Time for 360 to dominate Euro.

Really? If anything I would expect Sony NOT to drop it in EU and JP, since increased 360 performance is less likely to lead to decreased PS3 sales. I think NA is where Sony needs to concerned, since the 360 is strong there as it is, but with a $200 starting point, this might be when the 360 decisively pulls away from the PS3. Especially considering our now unbelievebly recessive shitty economy.

A price cut won't be enough if people still have no games that interest them on the console. Also, people in the know will ponder the RRoD debacle.
People always act like the consumer wants to buy the console. No!
The consumer wants to play the games, he doesn't care about the console.
Someone like me that already have 2 consoles, which is a feat, have no reason to buy a XB360, except one: ToV. But ToV won't come to Europe until next year, and I'm not even sure it will be worthy of buying (original japanese voice mandatory for that, I won't suffer through another craapy english dubbed Tales). I can't even import a cheaper console as it's so unreliable.

So for me this price cut doesn't mean anything, as I don't want the console anyway, as there's no game on it that interests me. That's just an example, but most people are like that: they won't buy a console just because it's cheaper. That's not like they are hard to find.
Besides, MS has demonstrated that waiting was better, as you get better SKU as time passes.
They basically screwed up on every move they made.

So, given that I have the high feeling that people in Europe don't buy the console because they aren't interested in what it offers, I'm surprised at this price cut. People saying MS games division would be profitable from now on may eat some crow later (their first quarter was in the red already).

If the previous, more significant price cut which effectively made the 360 half the price of the PS3 and cheaper than the Wii did damn little, then why would a measly 30 Euro price cut make any difference?

Consoles owned: Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, DS, PS3

It wont make a difference, i bet u

just wait for week3 and week 4 of current month
