Looking extremely good for Obama at this moment. It's shaping up to look like the 1996 race between Clinton and Dole. That seems somewhat appropriate.

This will not be a repeat of the 96 election. The popular vote will be much closer than 49% (C)-40% (D). The EC vote will also be much closer than 379 (C)-159 (D). I would say OH and NV would hitherto vote for McCain. I also find it a bit perplexing that they awarded Obama VA but called NV and OH toss-up states. If the election were held today, I would say the EC vote would be 273 (O)-265 (M)-possibly 286 (O)-252 (M).

McCain is taking his commercials down and suspending his campaign and trying to delay the Friday debate, so he can work on the financial crisis, and he wants Obama to do the same, and Obama's all like "hell naw dude, Friday night, IT'S ON."

@ Ghost - yeah - I saw that. I created a thread about it - I wonder why he really wants to that - and Palin is gonna testify before a panel in Alaska over Troopergate.

I suspect that McCain's strategy is to try to demonstrate that he is above partisan politics, and will do what is necessary to  solve a crisis (and therefore is best suited to lead) ... It seems that Obama is playing into that strategy and only time will tell if it is successful.

Did you know that if this financial crisis is not solved by next week then the US economy will tank? McCain has brass balls and Harry Reid told him not to come back to show him up. Mac showed him!! BTW Palin was stalked by that trooper and he told her husband that he was going to kill her dad. She was right in firing him. Threats on the first family of AK are to be taken seriously. He is still a cop and still is living in AK. Don't believe everything you hear. Also, canvassing, offices, and others will still be up for McCain. I just heard it from my folks at the HQ.

Wooten never threatened the first family. When Wooten threatened her dad, she was a mayor. She became governor a year and a half later, and suddenly Wooten had hell to pay.

Can't wait to see the polls in a few days.

But McCain told me the fundamentals of the economy are strong?  WHO AM I SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE!

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

If the U.S. goes under, I'm bailing back to New Mexico, get my house back, my power back on with my severance and a couple cannons to blast looties.

Wooten was nailed because he divorced a Heath girl and was booted from the Circle of Trust. That's it, dude. Palin and simple. The rest of the charges came about - the teaser, the illegal moose hunt (which Palin's dad was on too) and the threats.

However, denying that dude's claims is gonna be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Something small and tiny will bring her back to earth - and to corruption charges. Just like Capone - taxes brought him down.

As far as threats, he's an officer - he movements are tracked and phone records are available too. He was thoroughly invetigated and penalized but not fired. That tells me something wasn't correct. Add to the fact that she had been trying since her mayor days to get him ousted - her BIL - and couldn't even give a consistent excuse why Moneghan was fired. First, it was a bad budget. Next, it was him going to Washington to lobby folks for - here it is - rape kit funds - and was fired.

Here's a word of advice - tell the truth. Period. With lies, you have to make more to cover and cover and cover the rest of them up.

This ain't transparent government - this is shadowy, backroom dealings.

Is McCain trying to dodge the debates? Is this supposed to make him seem more presidential? It's not like he knows about the economy, he has said so on many occasions himself.
