No final.  I was trying to give you a link from my email about what Obama said and give you some info on McCain's policies (like that .pdf).  I would be happy to provide any other info it's just that I constantly have to take a lot standing down if you know what I mean.  It is what I try to do by providing links and letting the voters decide.  I don't like the whole he said, she said game so I like to point to the specific source.

You do realize in a bad economy, "spreading the wealth around" doesn't sound like such a bad idea to a lot of voters... including some who have higher incomes.

This great system is what allows us to live such great lives and be so successful. We pay to maintain that system. The system needs changes that are going to cost more, so we know we have to pay for it.

Taxes probably will go up for most Americans because there is market failure in banking, and market failure in health care.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

@steven787: That's the funny thing about this fake capitalism which exists in the US and Europe... When business is going well, profits are kept private. When things go down and the shit hits the fan, their huge losses get spread around, the taxpayer foots the bill and THEN gets unemployed while the rich CEOs keep raking in the millions.

If this is the governments' idea of capitalism, I'm not sure socialism is worse any longer.

Then I guess the Cold War and the millions of lives lost in Red takeovers and Korea and Vietnam wars were for nothing then. The sad thing is nobody even cares about that anymore. It is all about "How can I keep more $$$" while the capitalist US they love is vanishing before their non-noticing eyes...

Comparing social responsibility to autocratic communism is unacceptable.  I will not stand for it anymore.  America doesn't stand for it anymore.

This is really more of a problem with the loss of personal responsibility than anything else ...

You think greed leads to communism?

I love America and I hate capitalism.  (Fortunately they have nothing in common.)

I really have no idea what you're talking about.

The element of America that I think has always been the most attractive is the idea that a person in America can become (practically) anything they want regardless of where they started out if they are willing to put the effort into it ... This is something which can only happen in a Liberal-Democracy that has a capatalist ecconomy.

I see how that is an attractive concept, but in America you have a 1.1% chance of being homeless.

A monetary system based on greed helps a lot of people climb to the top, but can not exist without a big bottom to climb on top of.

So it's about the same as Canada's homeless rate.

Though I wouldn't say you have a 1.1% chance of being homeless like you just spun some wheel and bam were homeless... some have mental problems, some have drug problems that were caused by their own bad decisions, etc.
