Additionally, in that same interview, Nintendo development guru Shigeru Miyamoto reconfirmed that the slew of Nintendo first party Wii accessories is officially over.

Nope. It will be a peripheral called Wii Hold Your Stuff.

It'll come loaded with The Super Mario Brothers Movie and all three seasons of Captain N: The Game Master.

Yes! Day one purchase!

 Haha. My exact reaction too!

Hmm, how is it now, can the Wii address SD-cards larger than 2 GB?

A few games it can.  I think SSBB is one of them.  However, not all game can...  So, at least hardware wise it is capable.

I prefer the name Wii-Garage

I think it will be some kind of online storage.

This was my gut reaction as well. Maybe 5-10 Gigs of online storage through Ninty or something. It would work out well for them because that could potentially slow down piracy through authentication etc.

I really, really hope that's not the case though, as I don't think Ninty could possibly provide us with as much space as we could provide ourselves.

I'm afraid I don't understand this possibility. How would it be different from our current situation of re-downloading purchased games from the Nintendo store?

You might not have to download them, you could just play them off the net, or maybe not as It would be really sluggish.

It would be different cos instead of cramming 5gigs into a 512mb flash storage you could download the stuff needed and then delete it, and then download it again when needed

wouldn't it be better if they dropped the 512mb wii to $200 and then introduced a say 15gb wii for $250.

You just described the current system :)  Nintendo stores all of the games and programs for us online, already.

@yoyo: Of course not. How would that solve the problem of people that already own a wii?

Online storage is also not an option as that already happens and people dislike it.
