Umm...what's the main conflict?

Basically, you have to save the world from an alien being known as Giygas.  Sounds cliched but the story is actually quite unusual and wierd.  The game is very well-written and has plenty of humor in it.

Trying to stop yourself from playing more of it when you know you should get to sleep.

In fact, if you play too long your ingame dad calls you and tells you to go to bed. 

(You have to play for like a ridiculious 24 hours or something though.  I got it like.... once.)

Earthbound is one of the games of the snes era that made me into a jrpg nut. I mean nothing beats buying an old house for a incredible amount of money only to find a story about tricking a cop into believing your fat wife is pregnant.
