Forums - Sony - Why Sony's E3 Press Conference "Won"...

I can agree with Legend11. Sony did a good job keeping up with Nintendo and Microsoft this E3 when it looked like they were down and out. By no means did they "win E3", but they did better than expected, which is good news for them.

Also, leo-j (despite your ban, I'll say it, why not), Wii Fit isn't all over the gaming sites, you are correct. It shows up here and there, but it isn't all over the web. Do you know where Wii Fit IS, though? It's in the mouths of Joe Schmoe Casual. People are talking about it. Word of mouth is a popular advertisement.

I see you won't answer, but anyway: what's all over the Post isn't Killzone, and Wii Fit has a lot of attention too.

See my point? It works both ways. Can you at least recognize that? Both won at their own games.

You may think it's sad that Nintendo is abandoning the core (though I'm not ready to concede just yet that Nintendo is abandoning its core). I think it's sad that because I don't like action packed games, I had hardly anything to see at the other keynotes.

I'm mature enough to recognize though, that Sony had a good conference for its target audience. Nintendo did too - for its target audience.

And about Nintendo's core (of which I consider myself a part of), I still want to see what they have to show today - it's not like E3 is over. But even if they don't show anything else, I'm already pleased.

I have 3 Nintendo games right now, 5 more I will purchase eventually, and another 5+ up for consideration. I have another 2 VC games, at least another 4 I wanna get, and 4+ soon to be released. I have some 10 third party Wii games I'm currently interested in. That's 30+ games, most with release dates just 18months after the Wii came out, $1000+ just for games. No way I'll be able to find the money or the time to play through them all.

So, color me pleased about their lineup - I really don't need any more things to be excited about. And anyone like me, who would spend $1500 in 18months on a Wii, given money/time constraints, is hardly "just a casual", so just give me a break.

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

I'm still waiting to hear what "surprises" sony had. As far as I'm concerned they didn't show anything we didn't already know about. Sure Killzone 2 looked nice, but when all is said and done most people seem more excited aby COD4, RE5, Halo 3, nothing for Killzone 2 convinced it will sell amazing. The Price Drop we all knew about, the slim psp we all knew, Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, Lair, MGS, and just about every other game they showed we knew about already and we didn't see anything new to change our opinion about them. This time around Home now feels old already and came off like an annoying waiting room for the console. Infamous was new and looked interesting, but the short clip was hardly enough to apreciate the gameplay. GT 5 look like the free demo, and they didn't say anything else about it, or even it's release date.

the best thing about Sony is Little Big Planet, the new videos looked amazing, amazing, amazing. It's the only game they showed that really looked ground breaking. Honestly these next gen guys really have to start pushing the envelope, I'm a little sick of every game looking look like a a dark sci-fi shooter, with hardly anything new in gameplay. The only game that looked to be breaking ground in that area is Fracture.

New at E3:  price-cut counts even if it was leaked because it was an E3 announcement (and not everyone knew because many people were predicting no price-cut this year), echochrome, infamous, epic deal with unreal engine whcih confirms EGM (last issue) rumor that Sony has a deal with them for an exclusive game, UT3 with keyboard/mouse support and PC mods which pretty much makes it equal to PC version which is a first in console history and something M$ won't let epic do, GT5 Prologue coming this holiday season sporting the best graphics in console history thus far, Killzone actually living up to expectations, Haze confirmed timed exclusive, ncsoft exclusive deal, home showing completely new areas and a menu option to go straight to multiplayer motorstorm (awesome, just what it needs to be worth it...actually makes it quicker to get to games, not slower), home showing that non-realistic skins will be available since rachet and clank suit was shown, and Sony making fun of themselves showing they aren't pompous jackasses.

What else did you want?  It's certainly the most new stuff this year.

Yeah, that was a welcome respite from last year's hubris.

EGM's 1UP show was a unanimous decision for Sony being #1, followed by M$, then Nintendo.

Analysts seem to think Nintendo won.

" Wedbush Morgan Securities' Michael Pachter said before the show that he expected an Xbox 360 price cut by the end of the Microsoft conference as an answer to Sony's $100 PS3 price cut from earlier in the week. With no such cut materializing, Pachter admitted he was wrong, and said that Microsoft is in a tough position right now because of the recently announced warranty extension for the system. He said a price cut now might send the wrong signal to consumers about the quality of the hardware, and they could save the price cut until they can reassure consumers that whatever was wrong with the system has been fixed."

Analysts don't know what they are talking about. I said before E3 that it would be hard for M$ to cut their prices because of the $1 billion to fix their consoles. At least he's smart enough to admit he's wrong and realize what he should have before E3 like most people.

Do the people you are quoting even play videogames? Give me a break.

Edit:  ""The reality is that the Wii is not expanding the market as much as Nintendo wants us to believe," Goodman said. "According to a publisher I have spoken to, less than 10 percent of Wii buyers did not previously own a console."

And 1up know what they are talking about?

In my opinion none of them do, but you can't disregard them entirely, or don't bring up something like 1up think it was in favor of sony, because it can easily be countered with such analysts.

It seems a bit fanboyish to do so.

Edit: I didn't understand your edit, do you agree with it or are making fun of it? Because is seems that you agree with it, and if you do, that totally undermines your whole post in my opinion. Also take a look at the thread in vgchartz. I think it was pointed out there too.
