Forums - Sales - I'm tired of unfounded predictions

I always do, brother.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

I predict that this thread will die within a month.

I predict that if I manage to resurrect it after three days, I'll be able to found a new religion bigger than Hubbard and his Clams Hubologists ...How are they called?

Anyone can make a prediction. It takes no skill or knowledge. Being right or wrong isn't even the issue. You're not a better person when you make an unfounded prediction and it happens to be right. So there is no point in making prediction based purely on belief, other than to satisfy your own misguided ego.

So please, do us all a favor. Don't make predictions unless you can lay a solid foundation with facts and logic.

So ban people who do. That's pretty simple. Making this thread won't do anything. Ban them for 6 months or ban them forever. Get rid of the mentally bankrupt for everybody who wants to have normal conversations.

I do find it humorous that so many "because I want it to be" predictions happen on a site that focuses on numbers. It's a bit like having a raging debate about religion in the midst of a science convention, though I understand that does happen from time to time.

But yes, they do get old. Especially the predictions that are clearly not based on any evidence, which is particularly irritating on a site that is chock full of evidence. Though the ones that try to claim that the market is changing based on a single week of sales also get on my nerves. You can get away with that kind of isolated incident exaggeration on many sites, but not on one where the entire history of video game sales for the last decade is lovingly catalogued.

This.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I have a theory:  exaggerations happen because MS fanboys want (consciously or not) to mistake USA for the whole world, Sony fanboys Europe for the whole world and Nintendo fanboys... well, er, ehm... the whole world for the whole universe!
