Forums - Sony - Do you expect the PS3 to, eventually, 'pull a PSP' in Japan?

Yes when FF13 hits

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I think it's going to be tough simply because the Japanese video game market seems to be more casually focused and by focusing on games for the casual market Sony will take focus away from the HD gaming market which drives sales in NA and Europe.

However I think the release of a slim PS3 with reduced power consumption along with a $50 (equivalent) price drop could double weekly sales.

Maybe Home can bring some kind of interest to the machine...its something unique and oriented to the social gaming and interacting .....we will have to see.

Slim ps3 + FFXIII + price drop could do it, the slim ps3 being the most important part.

Personally, I think it will happen. The ps3 and Wii are two very different consoles, unlike the GameCube and ps2, so there's more of a reason to eventually own both, even if it's just to get a Blu-Ray player (that ALSO plays FFXIII).

@ KGB29:- So the ps3 is gonna be at 25 million LTD this year? I don't think so! The Wii is gonna be at 33 mil? Think you need to update your predictions! Also and possibly the most laughable:- The ps3 is gonna sell more in Japan than Wii this year!!!
@ OT. I can't see anything giving ps3 a permanent boost in Japan this gen but that's only my opinion.

DON'T WIN ME CHIBI BUDDY DON'T WIN ME.

ANIMAL CROSSING NEW LEAF FRIEND CODE:- 5129 1175 1029. MESSAGE ME.
ANDY MURRAY:- GRAND SLAM WINNER!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

I don't think the console market is hot enough in Japan for two devices to be that successful. The handheld market is crazy enough for both DS and PSP to grab a big piece of pie, but Japan seems to favour one dominant console with another one in distant second. I don't think anything is going to allow PS3 to usurp that dominant position from the Wii.

I think the PS3 is doomed to play the role of the GC in Japan.

That's not exactly doomed.

Huh? I thought the PSP just had a few upgraded versions, similar to the Fat DS to the Slim DS boom - Sony already has multiple SKU's maybe a slim one could do the trick for the PS3 but that could be years off.

Also I believe MH was packed with one of these versions or it could of just been a reskin, either way it was bundled.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.
