There's a lot of great Wii games I want this month:

TigerWoods, NHL 2K9, Force Unleashed, De Blob 

but I only have so much time (and money) to spare.   IGN had a lot of complains with NHL 2K9 but said it was fun to play.  Reviews from people who purchased the game (Amazon) are overwhelmingly positive but I hoping to get some more feedback on this game before I decide.   

I'm Canadian so you know I've been dying for hockey on Wii since launch but if it's meh then TW or FU or even DB might bump it.

I want to know this too. I love hockey, but IGN put me off.

I haven't owned a hockey video game since the Intellivision, but I really have been thinking about getting this. Like you though I have been put off by bad reviews. Hopefully someone here can give us some insight.

Personally I find the big name review groups to put into question Wii reviews. Until Wii achives DS status Wii games are pretty much going to get the negatives played up and made up.

I would suggest going with a more fair Nintendo site for Wii reviews for now.

In general the 2k series is much weaker then the EA series now, but I guess since you only have one option you should just go for it. I've heard lots of problems and such, but it will probably be worth it instead of having to wait a full year just to play some hockey.

Still wondering if anyone played it. I'll probably be renting it in a few weeks if my brothers have some spare time and want to play it.

I have it, it lacks pretty much everything and nhl 09 is wayyyyy better.. but despite that it's still fun to play.
