The DC was a failure from day one. They lost most 3rd party support due to the Saturn and various genesis add-ons that failed, which also made the public image of Sega's hardware very poor. By the time DC came out everyone was screaming 'Ultra 64!!!'. Then PS1 hit the market with sound titles and a good overall image in the Sony name. It was all over then.

Hmmmm ....PS1 was out by 1994 . N64 was out by 1996 . Dc was out in 1998 . What the hell are you talking about ??

Inquirer, inquirer. Just a few days ago, you were claiming that Wii sales have slowed in Japan... You're a riot, and fuck this, you're getting paid to write worse than me!

the only console that would fail is the x360. having a massively watered down CPU + a $ 2 dvd drive . and priced at 400$. come MARCH some websites would shut down completely..... Inquirer would go bankrupt along with X360 division

Honestly, you're (probably) not going to see any of the console manufacturers leave the industry any time soon; from how it looks currently, I would expect that each of the consoles will sell at least 20 or 30 Million units before it is time for another generation. One thing that could hurt Sony and Microsoft is that neither company has strong enough first-party development to float a platform on their own; if third party developers decide to reduce support for "High Definition" systems in favour of the Wii this will have a greater impact on Sony and Microsoft then if third party developers reduce support for the Wii in favour of "High-Definition" systems.

Yeah your right. I was thinking the PS1/N64 put the stop to DC. My bad. It did come out as Sega trying to get one up on them. But, it had the rest of my logic still fits. N and Sega had both pissed off 3rd parties, and they jumped to PS. The difference with N was that they could ride on their 1st party games, whereas Sega, and now PS3, don't have that option.

The DC had magnificent first party titles ,as Shenmue 1 and 2 ,Jet Set Radio ,Skies of Arcadia ,Phantasy Star Online ,Headhunter ,Virtua Tennis ,NBA 2k ,NHL 2k ,Ecco ,Crazy Taxi ,Sonic Adventure ...plus many exclusive japanese games ...to this date this is the only plattform that has received the underrated and excelent Streetfighter III Third Strike or Power Stone 1+2 .The problems of the Dreamcast were others ;Sega was indebted ,lack of third party support (Ea mainly ),inadequacy of the GDROm ,piratery easier than anything ...... The PS3 will have also a lot of exclusives ,Sony has right now more than 100 developing groups working for the machine as third or second party ,Liverpool Studios ,Guerrilla ,Evolution Studios ,Naughty DOg ,Insomniac ,Incognito ,Team Ico ,London Studios and many more .Plus the machine will have a lot of japanese exclusives ....most jap developers think primarily about their market and their games will be for the PS3 (and Wii ) ...for some as Square or Konami its absurd to make their games primarily for the X360 where they will sell in 2 markets instead of the PS3 where they will sell in all 3 and specially the japanese one .

He never said Sega didn't have first party titles, just that they couldn't ride them to sucess like Nintendo. I think Sony will have the same problem, people buy PS products for the 3rd party titles first and foremost.

When it comes to variety, Sony easily has more first and second party titles than either Nintendo or Microsoft. First-person shooters: -Killzone -Resistance: Fall Of Man Third-Person Shooters: -Syphon Filter -Socom Platformers: -Ratchet & Clank -Jak & Daxter -Sly Cooper -Ape Escape Action: -God Of War -Ico -Shadow Of The Colossus -Heavenly Sword Racing: -Gran Turismo -ATV Offroad Fury -Formula One -Motorstorm -Wipeout RPG: -Wild Arms -Arc The Lad Miscellaneous -The Getaway -Warhawk -Twisted Metal Could Sony rely on them totally to be successful? No, but they doesn't need to. The PS3 still has plenty of third-party support. While we're on the subject, Final Fantasy, Tekken, and Soul Calibur may as well be considered second-party titles.

Consoles owned: Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, DS, PS3

OMG, you listed random Sony games without any mention of their Wii and 360 counterparts. And Soul Calibur is now almost a Sony second party title, despite being multiplatform! I've been proven wrong!
