Forums - Gaming - 9 years ago , the Dreamcast was released...a short, but amazing life.

ah the Dreamcast... It used to be a great system, and great that I owned one and played the great games it had!

I still recall putting in Sonic Adventure for the first time (my first DC game) and being absolutely blown away. At that point in time I didn't have a connection that enabled me to watch game videos or anything so all I'd seen is a few photos and I simply couldn't believe the speed and scope of that game.
But overall a wonderful console, perhaps the last great console.

I remember a lot of Sega fans wanted to murder the Gamespot staff when they gave Shenmue a 6.0.

I only played Sega consoles at friends houses, It was SNES for me (I had a soft spot for Super Mario Kart and Earth Worm Jim ). But once PS1 came out ive never had a non-sony console, altho my brother had a Gamecube last gen and an xbox360 this gen (He has no brand loyalty lol)

I still play my dreamcast. Sonic Adventure and Shenmue are just a few of my favorite games for the console.

Quite a lot of nostalgia here. By the way, Dreamcasts go for $65 on Ebay right now. Maybe I will pick one up:)

Damn, $65 for a used Dreamcast? That's pretty expensive. I remember I picked up my Dreamcast for $50 NEW in like 2001, when everybody was clearancing them. I still have it in my old room at my parent's house. I should probably grab it sometime.

I never was really into the DC though. The games were good, but the controller was bad, IMO. After loving the Genesis (6-button controller) and the Saturn (Awesome controller!!!) the DC controller seemed like a bastardized Saturn Analog controller. I just bought another Saturn system (my old one brokedown) and I'm loving playing games with that controller again. I'll never feel that way about the DC controller.

Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Would I be wrong in saying a lot of former Sega fans have gone to the Xbox and now see MS as 'the new Sega'?

i was a genesis fan til 95 , and was drawn to ps in 97 and the rest as they say it . was history

so  ur conclusion is inaccurate
