Any new DX11 info for Win 7?
The key is quiting the DX11 crap and switching to open GL like everything else (Mac, Linux, PS systems, Nintendo systems, Iphone ect). Direct X is more of an inefficient resource hog then Vista ever was. It IS easier to program for, but thats because it takes shortcuts and doesn't let you interact with the processors directly. It's like making a website using a basic layout program or even Dreamweaver instead of custom coding your java script. Yes it's easier to just make a layout using a front end program but you will have NOWHERE near the capabilities and efficiency as you will coding custom Javascript more directly tailored to the task at hand.
Direct X and Active X are both inferior answers to questions that were already answered with open source (Open GL and Javascript). Microsoft is finally buckling with IE8 and adopting open standards like Javascript, I can only hope that Windows 7 follows suit and interacts better with open GL (they make it more difficult for open GL to work with windows, just like they make it more difficult for anything outside their propriatary software to work with IE6).
Easy does not equal good unless you prefer sloppy code and program crashes.
PSN ID: ChosenOne feel free to add me
They said the same thing about Vista compared to XP. If they knew how to do it, they would have done it. Vista shows that they don't have the talent to make a competitive OS.

I have programmed several things in OpenGL in Windows. I created a custom terrain generator using C++ and VisualStudios. What problems does Windows have with OpenGL??
Well you have to remember XP means Extreme Performance (of course not marketed to business like that) so if Vienna's real name is anything similar to "XP" its true name will tell you what its main benefit is just wont be advertised for it.
Mattering realistic benefits of software vs hardware requirements we will need to see what the give us in terms of reliable platform which by reliable I mean not a total pos like Vista, ME, 95, 97, etc.

actually people hated windows xp in the beginning. Myself included. Atleast until it got patched.. a lot.
I dunno when or if microsoft will ever clean up their mess of a OS.. unfortunately with the lack of support of other OS there really isn't much of an alternative.
In either case. It Should. Be more relevent to gaming.. but who knows. All i know is that it will be like an upgrade from vista. Basically the same core with new stuff piled on top of it.

Yep, XP's launch was not quite as bad as Vista, but it was pretty bad.

DirectX =/= OpenGL. OpenGL just covers the Direct3D component of DX. Until someone comes up with a serious unified solution to compete with the whole DX package, DX will hold a lot of ground. Things like SDL try to make ways, but are still lacking compared to what DX offers.
While you're not going to agree, DirectX is one of the things MS has done right and well, and if they ever opensourced it (fat chance, but I can dream) I'd hope the open source community would embrace it.
This just sucks... I was getting hope because I thought they would start up fresh, ground built OS... *Sigh*
i am not buying another stupid os that is not going to take advantage of my harware. i am not going to buy a new graphics just for that shit, well not for years and years anyway. i have already been shunned by microsoft with dx10, now they can shove all this shit up the ass.
if Linux had better games support i would switch over to that.
