actually people hated windows xp in the beginning. Myself included. Atleast until it got patched.. a lot.
I dunno when or if microsoft will ever clean up their mess of a OS.. unfortunately with the lack of support of other OS there really isn't much of an alternative.
In either case. It Should. Be more relevent to gaming.. but who knows. All i know is that it will be like an upgrade from vista. Basically the same core with new stuff piled on top of it.
