Forums - Microsoft - Can any MS fan explain this video? I am beyond baffled

I hope that the three hundred million wasn't for the "jokes" that Seinfeld was telling in this ad. It it was, they could get me to write stuff that's just as humorless for much cheaper. Oh, and a few small countries could be fed. What a waste of money. It angers me to think about it.

I guess it is a good thing that Bill is spending an obscene amount of money to fight problems such as the one you listed.

Don't get me started on Bill Gates. He is not the humanitarian everyone says he is. He's made all of his money by buying things and stealing ideas. I don't want to go on and on and get into every detail but the man is far from a saint and spending 300 million dollars on a commercial with Seinfeld is disgusting. It doesn't even have a point. It is a commercial about nothing just like the show but less funny. For 300 hundred million dollars you get nothing? Interesting.

LOL.  The $300 million was not just for this commercial.  Also, you have met Bill Gates?  How the **** can you base your opinion about someone on what you see in the media?  That is completely ridiculous.

Yep. Just like you think he's a saint because of the media. LOL If you like the 360 that's cool but don't act like he's Mother Teresa.

LOL.  The only thing I said was that he was donating a rather large portion of his enormous fortune to charitable work.  I would rather not hate things just for the hell of it.

I compare M$/Apple competition to Coke/Pepsi.

pepsi pays for major commercials. Coke a few years ago decided to divide there advertising budget up, and distribute it locally. They feel local advertising has a bigger impact.

This is nothing like that, and it's poor advertising. Yes, getting your name out there could be good, but if everyone already knows it, who cares?

Oh, and amp316, Bill Gates does not run Microsoft anymore. It was not his choice to spend $300 million.

P.S. JagedSac, I have met Bill Gates at a conference. It was only a couple of sentences back and forth, but he seemed like a nice guy to me. Oh, and he had just presented a hour or so before, and he was a lot funnier then I had expected.

To bad 50% of Microsoft products are shit. I primarily us Apples offerings, and there CEO is a dick.

You're right. He donates a lot of money (not a large portion of his fortune) to charities but he also spends a lot on bad commercials too. I don't hate the man but he made alot of money by spending a lot of money. I don't think that you can disagree with this.

They created several of those crazy CGI 'go inside the coke machine' commercials, within the past year or so.

They are attempting to show that M$ is just a bunch of regular joes and a bunch of coorporate bastards.

And good to hear some anecdotal evidence about Bill.

I'm apealing to the advertising standards agency in the UK to make sure that ad never reaches our TV screens.
