Forums - Sony - thesimexchange.com's consensus projections of Wii/360/PS3 sales for Sept/Oc

Here are the current consensus projections for thesimechange.com crowd.  September has the 360 knocking the PS3 out of the park but this advantage is sharply reduced for October.  Now, they say that opinions are kind of like a$$holes in that everybody has one, and that is the genius of thesimexchange.com  in that this website gives the consensus of all of the opinions given, kind of like the financial markets and such.

September

Wii - 690K  units

360 - 371K units

PS3 - 302K units

October

Wii - 631K units

360 - 347K units

PS3 - 327K units

Doesnt look like they give the price cut much of an effect....360 ahead of PS3 in september by only 69,000?

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Why the hell would October be lower than September?!?!!?

Tease.

Are these just NA sales? The Wii predictions seem REALLY low.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

That's an effect of pricing....the cut is out NOW, and by the end of the month its effect won't be as strong, that's pretty standard for price cuts actually.

I've seen sales doubled the week after the PS3's price cuts, next week it will be 80% of that, the next week 85% ofthat, and it will eventually stabilize at a somewhat higher point than before, again b/c of the price cut.

Pachter himself has said that this would increase 360 sales by 20%.....I am somewhat more generous w/ perhaps 25% LT but I also don't think that this cut will really be enough for MS.

@Squilliam:
September has 5 weeks, October 4.

@dallas

These are their projections for NPD, correct?

These are the projections for American hardware sales, and even then these projections really don't give the whole picture b/c sony is stronger in non-american areas than MS

I put a lot of faith in VGC # to estimate NPD numbers. According to this site, the Wii only sold 433k in August, while theSimExchange has it at 560k for the USA only, so I invested heavily on the fact that its going to be lower.

We can argue over which numbers are better, but VGC and NPD have had some significant differences lately.  The 360 sales for last month being the largest.
