Forums - Gaming - Rumoured Rock Band Pricing in Australia

If this rumoured pricing is accurate, the news is bad, albeit unsurprising. The retail source has stated that the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 release will be sold in multiple components at retail, and that Australian gamers are looking at forking out:

  • $119.95 AUD for the game

  • $159.95 AUD for the Drums peripheral

  • $99.95 AUD for the Guitar peripheral (if purchased separately)

  • Or $269.95 AUD for a peripheral pack comprising of Drums, a Guitar, and a Microphone

And yes, you read it right.  Rock Band 1, not 2.  Its due here at the end of the year.

$AU0.82 = $US1

Not that this matters as the pricing was set a while ago but the bottom has dropped out of the Australian dollar in the last few weeks and now it's only worth 82 US cents. So maybe you can feel a little bit better about shelling out 270 AUD (or 223 USD) for some plastic toys and a game.

Judging by the lack of attention paid to this thread, its apparent that its global consumers, not just global gaming companies, that dont give two shits about the Australasian markets.

Yup, it's all about the Austrians.

Well thats almost 400 bucks for a game and its peripherals. All I gotta say abour that is the peripherals better be damn good and not faulty for them to attract such a price. Furthermore I would be interested to see how much the DLC will be as well. If we are getting shafted with price of game and peripherals why not the DLC as well?

a $400 game for casuals. will bomb in down under.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
