Forums - Sony - Kingdom Hearts the game that fools you into thinking that it's amazing

Note: This is all opinion and I hope those who reply take that into consideration before they surely flame me to hell. Also this is in the Sony forum because I'm talking about the first game of the series.

*probable spoilers*

I personally can't understand the praise that this game gets. I think that it's one of the most overrated games ever made. I bought it a few months ago after a couple of my friends talked it up to me about how amazing it was. Needless to say, I hated it. The only thing that kept me playing (I got up to the Hallow Bastion) was the inclusion of Disney. Nostagia is all this game has going for it. The battle system is a mashfest with small breaks for magic or healing before continuing the mashfest, and the characters are unbelievably shallow, and I can't stop thinking that if this game has the "Disney" stripped from it, it would be rated as a mediocre ARPG with a few Final Fantasy cameos, and a terrible story.

But hey, I thought Blue Dragon and Final Fantasy XII were amazing, so maybe I don't know a good game when I see one!!

Final Fantasy XII is amazing

Kingdom Hearts is amazing

Blue Dragon is...ok

kh is brilliant with sides of over thought decisions and polar ideas.

all the battle systems are like or leave it. they tried to balance each but ended up failing except in kh:com, which matters the least. they have a very unique take on the action genre which involves menus of all things.

the story is actually quite brilliant. it has a lot of subtle things especially in the relationships of the main characters. the amount of depth to the world is startling. the thing that most wont like is that there are a few gaps in the universe, but they dont break the story and instead give it room to expand.

the disney situation is a very interesting one. its clearly a part of the universe at this point, however it is starting to become too much. i feel that the first one did disney correctly. you would go to their world once and the entirety of each world would be a variation of the story (sans the whale one but that was clearly a special case). Certain characters remained and were brilliant in their roles.

i can completely understand people who dont like the game because it has a lot of polarizing things in it. however, for those that it goes well with, it goes brilliantly with them. i happen to be one.

I completely agree.  The second one was definitely unbalanced with its use of Disney characters.  I think that might be why I like the story of the first one better....Oh and the ending of 1 was SOOO much better than 2

I want to congratulate you on creating what will most likely be the longest thread this forum has ever seen. Kudos for having the will to state openly you dislike a game despite the presence of an unhealthy number of rabid fanboys that will hound you until you eventually create a new account.

This. and aslong as the make a new character in KH III an older more wiser character im cool with the series, but if its sora AGAIN then well...Staleness much?

TC i agree. The game was amusing but not that good.

im really with you on that.  the balance of the first perfectly matched the need of the series and nostalgia factor.  it just had some kind of magically (no pun intended) quality.

as far as endings go, i thought 2 was a better ending but it still felt odd.  im mixed about the endings.

Square has been downhill since the Spirits Within.

Kingdom Hearts is Overrated. Final Fantasy needs to just die. Infinite Undiscovery is perhaps one of the most embarassing things to come out this generation. And even when they did make good games most of them that weren't final fantasy were forgetable casualties of mediocrity.

Square-Enix has talent, but they're not the same company that made these kind of games work in the past. They need to realize they can't keep following in the footsteps of something they no longer are.

That title belongs to Ninja Breadman.  BTW, IU is made by Tri-Ace, not Square-Enix.  Go blame them for the game not being as good as it could of been

And the second game did its job great.
I really liked it.
I am such a fool. :p
