There is a difference between obsession and compulsion. Obsessions are thoughts that cause compulsions. Compulsions are tasks or acts that satisfy the obsession.

You can say I (and everyone who posted) have both obsessions and compulsions, so any word would fit. In spanish it's more common to say obsession than compulsion, though, so that's why I used it

The most severe compulsion I've ever had was hand washing. It took up hours of my time. It was so severe, I got dermatitis.

For all you OCDers....I highly recommend a book by Comedian Steve Martin called...
The Pleasure of my Company. It's a short read...but hilarious to anyone with just a tinge of the 'ol Compulsion.
As far as my OCD....it's mainly about visual expectations. If I put a pencil away into a jar of pencils...I subconsciously predict the placement of that pencil when it has left my hands. If it doesn't end up in that spot...I have to fix it.....and if I can't....then I have to "clear it" by rubbing the tips of my fingers against the palm of the same hand.
this thread is going to drive me crazy seeing as how my name is basically the title.
Another compulsion I have is that all drawers, cabinets, and certain doors have to be completely closed and nothing can be sticking out.

Also, if I see a mistake (orthographical or grammar) in one of my posts, I go straight and edit it, I can't stand seeing it. Also happens when I send an e-mail, I usually spot a minor error when I'm sending it (another obsession, I ALWAYS send my messages in Thunderbird with Ctrl+Enter), forcing me to cancel the sending to correct it

Yes. Every time I leave a room I need to turn the light switch on then off exactly 17 times or my family will die.

You mispunctuated. There is supposed to be a period at the end of the second set of parantheses indicating the end of the sentence.
