Forums - General - What do you think is the best OS?

MS-DOS. Nothing like writing command lines for everything. It had its charm. In reality, I've only used M$ OSes, and the only one I've been close to what you could call "acceptance" and "not wanting to uninstall it every second" are DOS, Win3.1 and XP with SP2.

i have both Windows and Mac, Mac is better when it comes to projects, internet, not getting spyware and viruses, etc. but Windows is better for gaming.

vista... leopard can can fuck itself

I prefer Mac OS but unlike many other Apple users, I have no intense dislike of Windows. I just like OS X better. I think Windows does some things very well but in my specialized field, it's a little easier to work with a Mac. There's a stronger support network.

In my limited experiences with Linux, it's a far bigger hassle than I care to deal with. I prefer to do work on a computer, not work on the computer itself. Besides, no Photoshop, no deal. I can't do anything without that program (first person to mention GIMP gets a slap in the face with a dead fish, there's no comparison).

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

I don't know if the feline Mac OSes are really better than Windows, but I love my current iMac/Tiger package much more than any of the five DOS/Windows PCs I owned before. Nearly everything feels polished and well-thought. After pressing the iMac power button it takes about 25 seconds and I'm on VGChartz or any other website and I (still) don't have to worry about viruses.

I agree with zexen though, MS-DOS had its own charms (and the best PC games ever imo). I remember having different boot disks for all my preferred DOS games.

I have used windows and this new thing called G.ho.st(webOS) http://g.ho.st/ (doesn't need installation, runs on a browser). Both in my opinion are really good Operating Systems

I have not used any other OS

Mac OS for me, I just cant use Windows without feeling frustrated. Macs suit my purposes better as I need to do a lot of editing of audio and visuals in short spaces of time.
