Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Boy Kills Himself Trying to be Master Chief

He must have not turned friendly fire off.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

No one saw what happened, yet they say he was trying to imitate Halo?!?!? Very sad, but why bring gaming into it?

Because it's a scapegoat society loves to use instead of blaming the real culprits: lack of personal responsibility, parents, and the ever tightening socialist and facist ways of the society itself.

I've known how to shot guns since I was 9... I havent shot anyone. Its all about behavor. The kid obviously couldnt handle the basic responsibilities of handling a real firearm which include not pointing the barrel at any living thing including yourself unless your life is threatened by another individual.

Now, if only they had taught you how to spell...

C'mon, any avid halo player has sniped them self in the head at least once, he just wanted to be that great in real life.

Moral: Don't let immature kids play with real guns.

fixed for you

No, you probably shouldn't let kids play with real guns period.

I am from Florida.  I am not saying you should do this but a lot of families do, and it works (kids aren't killing themselves).

If you have a gun in the house.  You teach the kid to shoot it, or promise they can one day.  But you teach them to respect the power of a weapon.  I really think this is where the old sword tradition comes from - preventing people from playing around with it and hurting them selves.

Either way I don't see why it's bad, it's just genetic adaptation.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

If you have a gun in the house. You teach the kid to shoot it, or promise they can one day. But you teach them to respect the power of a weapon.

And if you really have a sense of responsibility you make sure your kid has no access to the weapon or that you remove the weapon from the house, limiting any accident with such a device.

With every passing day I am more and more convinced that there should be a license for having kids. Unless you can prove that you can take care of kids you cant have them. There are way too many idiots left in charge of children.

I don't remember a move in Halo that lets you shoot yourself in your own head. Perhaps he was trying to imitate Persona?

I don't think that I would be going out on a limb to say that a very high percentage of pregnancies aren't planned.

So, I'll do you one better: I think that when a male reaches a certain age he should be required by law to get a vasectomy. If he and his spouse of choice pass the requirements and are able to get a license (for having children), then the vasectomy is reversed. Ta-da! No more unplanned pregnancies!

No, I'm not joking.

So its videogmaes fault, and not the parents fault for allowing their 11 year old child a .22 caliber rifle?

I see

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

The reason they know he was imitating Halo, after he accidentally shot himself, some guy came up and teabagged him.
