I thought Arcade doesn't have BC so that is one issue. You need HDD to play XBox games. Granted, it's not so big issue anymore...

Its pretty easy. Cheaper system with comparable features at a mainstream price. |
Hasn't seemed to stop the 360 from being the cheaper but poorest performing current gen console in Europe, in terms of sales and soon install base.
yeah i think the negativeness is coming from the little impact of price cut in europe. then again USA is a completely different market

It'll be interesting to see if it has a lasting effect! I think it might, the prices are finally getting down into a range that feels "mid-gen" to me. I shouldn't be paying more than $300 for such an old console.
Whether or not the general public agrees with me - who knows?
I'll post tomorrow at lunch EST and let you know what it looks like at our local Walmart (I work there) But fri at 5ish they sold 4 pros and 2 elites... I couldn't tell if any of the arcade had been sold because they had them in two different places and now they are together... so maybe a few of them to.

==> fixed
PS3 is already over the xobx360 in Europe.
Neverthless, NA is not Europe so the price cut will have a bigger effect there.
Time to Work !
It will probably do enough to ensure that the PS3 doesn't catch up with the 360 before the 720 is released, which I'm sure MS will use to say that "they sold more than the PS3," even if LTD sales will favor the PS3 for start to end of production.
There is a big difference in reasons that Sony/Nintendo are in the gaming industry vs. MS.
Sony/Nintendo are in it to be in the industry and sell games and hardware. MS is in the industry to monopolize the industry and get into a position where they can fix prices like they do in the OS and Office applications.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

I really dunno. It will sell really well being America. I think it will probably level the 360 at around 120,000. 200,000 - 250,000 first week.
Of the course the price cut will put it above the ps3 in Americas the question though comes down to will it give it the edge to overcome WW PS3 sales during the holiday season. I have no clue as to how WW sales this Christmas are gonna be except for the Wii will still be ahead of everything.
