hey hey! im a malaysian who are now living in england. glad to c sony shows some love to my home country!

Should we expect big sales.

Hopefully this means that SCE Asia will finally officially release PS3 here in Thailand too. Malaysia & Thailand were the remaining two countries where SCE Asia had yet to release PS3.

Unfortunately it's the weekend now, so I probably won't be able to get confirmation from SCE Asia until Monday, but might ask in Sony Style tomorrow to see if they have any details.

This probably won't significantly affect sales, imports from Hong Kong and Singapore are widely available in both countries, but it will be nice to have official support, and not have to wait a couple of days for new releases.

Me Malaysian too. Its going to be such a luxury product though as we know the amount of bootlegging that happens and the BluRay is un-bootleggable.

Good news, Sony is far behind MS in releasing their console in all these countries, they are probably behind Nintendo as well.

I wonder if those 80g are bundled with a game....if so i hope its resistance 1 to give it a nice little boost

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Neither Microsoft or Nintendo have released 360 or Wii in Malaysia or Thailand, and probably never will. Sony is the only console manufacturer with an official presence here.

Supposedly the bundle's going to cost RM1,799 (US$540), Sony Malaysia will announce full details on September 10th.

Apparently the reason they're not announcing anything until September 10th is because 80Gb PS3 hasn't been announced for Asia/Japan yet, and SCEJ are planning to announce it on that date.

So expect Japanese 80Gb announcement from Sony next Wednesday.
