I'm playing the Demigod beta, and it's soo good looking, and it doesn't take a ton of resources!  It's much less taxing than Supreme Commander...but there's still plenty of units onscreen going at it, with virtually no slowdown.

It's pretty sweet, but I have to get used to more of the game.  There's a few things I'd like changed, but overall it's not hard at all to jump in and play...it took me about 5 minutes to get from not knowing what I was doing at all to swaying the battle in my favor.

I love playing as the Rook the most...the gigantic stone demigod.  You can upgrade him with archers in his shoulders, light towers (they're like "laser" defense towers), and catapults.  It's a ton of fun and looks awesome.

I bought it on Impulse, Stardock's digital distribution platform, but it's available for retail pre-order as well...that should get you into the beta...I'm not sure though.  I'm pretty sure this is open now to anyone who pre-orders for $45.

I thought the game looks awesome as well but I might wait for it's release, I added Demigod to the game database here and posted some screenshots from their website and stuff.

I might have to try the beta out, is the only way in by pre-ordering though?

I was sure I'd buy it from the first trailer...and from knowing it's the Supreme Commander guys behind it. I'm already getting my money's worth...right now in the beta you can only play multiplayer, but that includes creating your own game and playing just against AI if you want...I need a little practice first.

Edit: Dam, it seems that you have to preorder to get a spot in the beta, and i think i am too late to apply for this round of beta testing.

Apparently this is Beta 1, and Beta 2 will come in October, Beta 3 in November...if you preorder before then you should get in...

It's a long wait til February '09 otherwise...

I hardly checked up on the facts...I just knew the game would rock so I threw down the money.

edit:  One thing I absolutely hate though is that I sent them my info a month or so ago, and they don't charge your card until you get the game or beta.  And this week I am near broke with college and books and car stuff...I really didn't want another $45 gone now...but it's soo worth it.  Just would have been nice to pick the day AFTER my paycheck.

I think I will just wait until the game comes out, maybe I will preorder later but with all of the games coming out I will need all the time for Fable 2, Fallout 3, World In Conflict, Left 4 Dead, Tales of Vesperia, and a shitload of older games i still have to beat.

I don't think I'm going to buy this, too many DotA comparisons for me to want to pay for a similar game. I want to hear the impressions of a reasonably long time DotA player on Demigod.

that doesn't make sense.... whether it was 5 years ago or now, your money is out of your account, it doesn't change anything regarding mandatory expenses as college, books and car stuff....

Concerning the game though, It does look awsome, but I guess you can't post pics or talk about details as is usually the case with betas. I'll have to wait the reviews... can't preorder anything with the pile of game on my shelf (mostly PS2 and Wii though)

(and this just reminded me I have to start playing my warhammer beta that I've had for 2 months... since the game is comming out in 2 weeks ^^)
