The simple reason there was less fanboys last gen was the fact that almost everyone had a ps2 and every brand of console owner couldn't deny that the ps2 was where the games were at.

I remember spending 2 generations calling Sony fans casual gamers.....my my how times change. lol
I remember back then.. In the americas I often see tech shows praising the almighty Xbox.. Then gives a slight bashing to PS2....

PS2 definitely lacks the feature blah blah blah... Then goes on to a mild rant...
I mean.. what could you expect from the cheapest one out there. Now let's look at PS3... It's the most expensive of the 3 consoles out there. Meaning.. It should have more functions. Otherwise it's a ripoff... :S
Do fanboys argue just about the sales? The number of sold products is not a sign of quality! I prefer to argue about games. Halo vs Killzone, Gears of War vs Resistance etc.
Number of sales are interesting of course, but quality > quantity.
The best console ever produced was, as we ALL know, the Dreamcast. It flopped hard but damn I love this thing. Shenmue, Resident Evil Code Veronica, Sonic, Virtua-series etc. So many unique games. + online gaming in 1998 + the little gimmicks like the memory card + the theoretical ability for High Definition.
Nothing at this time was so impressive like the DC. I don't like a product because it has good sales.
When I think about it, I prefer to like the product with less sales.... Sega Genesis, Nintendo64, Xbox, Xbox360... But thats just by accident, I guess.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
Man... I remember loving the gamecube and hating everything else with a passion back then. PS2 gaming where idiots that only liked games made for idiots like GTA and Madden. That's how I use to think back when I was kid.

Oh man.... the Gamespot system wars forum was worse than this site BY FAR. The MS and Nintendo sides didn't have nearly as many soldiers though lol.
