Let's look at Tales WW though Soriku?

What, Two have broken a Million? We have eight dragon quests that have done that, and eleven (maybe 12) Final Fantasies that have done that, and every main pokemon game does.

Tales is not on FF/DQ/Pokemon Level.

I'd venture to say that the Monster Hunter Series on the PSP (MHP, MHP2, and MHP2G) has outsold all twenty or thirty tales games. If someone would be so kind to do the math... And since you're so adamant about calling MH a "RPG", then that would have much better fit in than Tales ;P

Not a problem (only takes 3 mins). All Tales games (including ports) combined have sold 7,605,091 units. All three MH games on the PSP combined have sold 5,229,590 units.

WKC will be HUGE!!! (Transferring some of the LBP superhype here jejeje)

And yes, Level-5 is one of the most respected in Japan, they were trusted with the Dragon Quest franchise and gave us one of its greatest titles (the greatest for many people) Dragon Quest VIII, and they have in their hands DQ9... Sony Computer Entertainment has a close relationship with them and because of that we got the Dark Cloud series, Jeanne D' Arc (Epic story) and Rogue Galaxy... They released independently the Professor Layton series for the DS, and it is so good that Nintendo is putting the money to release it on this side of the globe... If it goes by history, then WKC is another AAA title from them and it will be a commercial success, if it goes by the previews, the graphics are beautiful, the story seems amazing and the music is inspiring, so far, so goooooood...

I'm not saying that can't happen, but it'll be really hard. DQ sold well just because it's DQ and Professor Layton appeals to a good part of the demographic on the DS. PS3 owners are starved for RPGs, and it should sell well, but not OMG HUGE AMAZING well. Keep in mind this is not Tales/FF/DQ/Pokemon.

I said "it will be a commercial success", so if it sells well then it is a commercial success, i'm not saying that it is on FF/DQ/Pokemon level (Tales???? Tales doesn't even come close to the 4th/16th/2nd franchises ever, it's 96th last time i checked) but it will be good (The HUGE part was only joking about LBP)...

Agreed, but it will outsell both current Tales of games (Vesperia and Symphonia 2). The best it can do is as much as MGS 4, in Japan ofcourse.

If it does like Mgs4 in Japan than its good.

Yeah well....WKS isn't MGS. I think you should get what I mean.

MGS4 is 600k+ in Japan, far more than many RPGs not named KH/Tales/Pokemon/FF have sold. WKS sales are hard to predict ATM but it's not going to get over 500k in Japan, let alone 600k...

MGS4 kicked TOS 2's ass....so whats your point?.....once again take out Tales from the list...

Damn.  That was close...  still, it took thirty games to sell 7.6 million units, and Monster Hunter Portable is actually at 6.1 million units (MHP, MHP2, MHP2G).

Still, the next MH game to come to PSP will change that.

I only used Japanese numbers.

Tales is not on FF, DQ or Pokemon status.

Just thought I'd point that out.

Well...Tales of Destiny had 800k+ in Japan alone. Team Destiny games have sold really well in Japan and Symphonia has sold over 500K in the US which is REALLY great for an RPG not named FF/DQ/Pokemon/KH. Have you seen many RPGs do that? Nope. That's why I listed it.

@darth

Considering the 360's userbase in Japan is low 130k is good.

As for SO, lol wut? Tales is a bigger series than SO. Oh, and ToS: DotNW is on its way to 250k+ in Japan alone which is good for any RPG not named FF/DQ/KH/Pokemon like I said before. And it's yet to release in EU and US (ToS is bigger in US than Japan. EU is also a helper.)

I'm not putting it because "I like it," I'm putting it because it's accomplished what many other RPGs haven't.

In Japan, yes. In the West, not necessarily. In America, SO3 outsold even ToS, the most popular Tales game in the US.

EDIT: look at the sales data on the site if you don't already believe me.

But we are talking about Japan here...
