Ok I remember being a little kid and playing this game that was like a side scroller but at the end of the first level there was this big white spider on a spider web, man it always use to freak me out as a kid to the point where I couldn't play the game. Anyone have an idea of what game I was talking about, of course the game is for the 2600 if that needed to be mentioned.

You NEED Cosmic Ark in your collection. Best VCS game ever. In fact, most Imagic games are worth checking out (personally I also love Dragonfire and Fathom).

Has anyone modified their old Atari 2600 to output S-Video or one of the nicer video outputs? I was just curious because I was thinking of doing it myself or sending one of mine off to Atari2600.com (they are right down the street from me) if they still offer this service.

Was just wondering if it was worth it. My Atari is very jumpy on my 65 inch TV. I can still play it but it would be nice to not have it look so bad. I have the same problem with almost all of my old consoles on my tv except for the Dreamcast and newer. I guess it has something to do with the refresh rates or something.

Nope, I don't have any TVs huge enough for the quality to matter. Even more, I don't have space around my largest TV (32-inch) to fit more game systems, and my next largest (21-inch) also doesn't have space. So, the Atari is hooked up to a 13-inch flat in my den.

In the meanwhile, I just paid for all the following on eBay (in no particular order):

Lot 1
-Space Invaders
-Asteroids
-Centipede
-Pole Position
-Frogs and Flies

Lot 2
-Phoenix
-Pac-Man
-Sky Diver
-Armor Ambush
-Pitfall
-Asteroids
-Video Olympics
-Baseball
-Pole Position
-Defender
-Football
-Soccer (2)
-Outlaw
-Oink!
-Lock N Chase
-Combat (2)
-Berzerk
-Cosmic Ark
-The Empire Strikes Back
-Riddle of the Sphinx
-Joystick Controllers (x4)
-Paddle Controllers (x2)
-AC adapter
-16-game carrying case

Lot 3
-Pitfall
-Pitfall 2

Lot 4
-Demon Attack
-Pitfall
-Combat
-Space Invaders
-Missile Command
-Journey

Individual Lots
-Dig Dug
-Super Breakout
-Centipede
-Mario Bros.

Lot 1 I bought primarily for Pole Position. It had other games I wanted too (Centipede, Frogs & Flies), but I purchased it mainly for Pole Position. Lot 2 I bought because it's got a mess of games, some extra accessories, the sweet carrying case, and extras of many games that I'd like to have doubles of, as well as The Empire Strikes Back. Lot 3 has Pitfall and Pitfall 2 in great condition. Lot 4 had Journey + Missile Command, and an extra Pitfall so I'll have three of those - two to play (one as a backup in case the other breaks) and one to keep as a collector's item. Also, this version of Demon Attack has an entirely different label than my other copies. The other four individual buys were because I wanted each of those titles to add to the collection. Oh, joy!

And each lot was a fantastic deal. The one with Journey + Missile Command was $.99 plus shipping. =)

@Dystopian Delight

It's Mountain King. I had that game and it would scare the hell out of me when that spider would come out on the bottom level. Makes me want to turn the game off if I ever fell down there!

Pitfall 2 was the shizznit.

I still have my 2600 from 1980 with dozens or cartridges all up in the attic. It does work anymore but I just can't throw it out.

I remember Breakout, played that for days solid when I first got it. The weird thing is that the games then cost £30 a time, they haven't went up much.

My Kids took the 2600 to school once for a Technology musem event.

Combat will always be that special game never to be forgotten.

If only you lived in the US... I'd buy those carts off of you. I can't bring myself to pay the shipping costs to ship it all overseas, though. =/

My favorite console after my PS2, I'll be hooking it up again as soon as I get an RCA/coax adapter.
