Forums - Gaming - Pirates truly have no shame

I've played spore for a few hours now and all I can say is it's appealing but ultimately mediocre, as in, the first stage is a mediocre Flow game, the second is a mediocre grinder RPG and then a mediocre RTS. It is fun, but really it feels like a cheap 4 in 1 game pack.

I agree, the game is a whole bunch of mini games bundled around a ridiculous customization engine, from what I've seen even LBP will be tough to top this one. Now shush and just until my pimped out Star Destroyers with lamps, spoilers, and neon lights roll your civilization over.

I also agree with Ares, I want to be able to install my game on my computer no matter how many times i reformat, change OSes, change hardware, whatever. If my copy really does stop working then fuck EA and i'll just pirate the thing. I already paid my $50 and I deserve to play it for as long as like from now until I die without any problems. They still got my money though so they can't really bitch at me about it.

Remember, DRM's are purely the fault of pirates.  If you want to blame someone for the troubles of DRM's, blame pirates and not EA.

Getting pissed at EA for DRM's is like getting pissed at the alarm system in your house for having to input the stupid little code all the time.

^ Well it would be all nice and good if the system actually did work. Wasn't Spore one of the few titles with a new wave of copyright protection scheme up? Look what happened, the game actually went up for torrenting 6 days earlier. Pirates win yet again, people like me who paid their money's worth get screwed.

Another point, what if I want a copy of the game on my rother's computer? We'd share the same CD, but the system would still count it as 2 installs. Then what happens when one of us gets a new computer? I can tell you as soon as my installs get used up and the game fails to install on a computer which either me or my family owns, I will be right there on those torrent sites inflating the numbers even more. I'm not about to buy another copy of a game I already paid for.

P.S. I do blame the alarm for the input code thingy, can't we just get a reliable quick scan thingamajig going with those  things already?

Thanks for the notice!

Again, the pirated copy of Spore CAN'T go online, and therefore it pretty much destroys the biggest reason of Spore, and ruins 90% of the game.

So if anyone wants to have a great time on Spore, you'll have to buy the full version.

^ Thank you. Though I'll settle for Maxis' creations until I get my copy in a few days. WHOOO!

In fact you shouldn't have any connection to the web while playing the RELOADED versin otherwise the auto check thing will nab you.

I'm just wondering whether we will eventually get the ability to make our own planets or everyone will be stuckwith the same handful, kinda ruining the whole diversity point of the game (but not really).

You don't have to pirate it, you just call them up and they unlock it for you.  I'd imagine that would be a whole lot easier and quicker than finding the torrent and downloading it.  Even on a quick connection a 4gig download takes longer than a 15 minute phone call.

You know, if I was to ever make a game, I would leak a torrent out there a few weeks early of my game. The only catch would be that this version of the game comes with something that starts eating your hard drive after a certain date and at certain dates after that.

I'd start making people paranoid to pirate my shit. Let them sue me and admit that they're pirating crap because the pirated versions are the only ones that has that code.

Have you ever heard about weird and dumb lawsuits??? My sister is a lawyer and she told me about how her firm makes settlements and wins court fights from really dumb cases (she told me some of them, i laugh as hell) and most of them are worth hundreds of thousands and millions...

If they have a really good lawyer, then they'll win and they'll take you for everything you are worth, that's the reason you can't do that, however, what you can do is do it off the record so they have no proof (but this means that the good code has to be also available for pirates)...

It's not my fault they _somehow_ managed to get a hold of an early unreleased to the public build of the game that had that horrible bug in it.  If I really thought it was a problem, I'd just place a EULA in the beginning of that version that right smack dab in the middle of that crap would wave my responsibilities and that the player would have to agree to before starting the game.

Like "If you run this software your hard drive will crash blablabla"... I think that will work, but still, you will need to consult that with lawyers, i've seen thieves winning worse lawsuits...

you guys with the viruses are crazy...

Your logic is the same as "prostitution is illegal, so i'll give aids to a prostitute so all her clients get it and can't complain it's their own fault"

Justifying doing something illegal because the person you do it to is doing something illegal shows that your moral values are even lower than the person that you try to harm. Not only does it shows twisted moral values but you seem to be enjoying the idea of such response which is really sad...

And no doing something illegal does not remove your protection, that is why people do not instal automated gun turrets that shoot anyone trespassing on their property.... there is something called "appropriate response".
(actually a guy got to jail for having killer bees as his security system and them killing a theif in his house...)

It would be more like putting itching powder in the local cheap cocaine supply.

Tease.
