Forums - PC - ATTN: Commander Keen fans

I just went through and corrected the listings of all Keen games. Now we have all eight featured, each with its title screen shown and I'm in the process of uploading screenshots, writing descriptions, and looking up release dates.

Just wanted to let everybody know.

Check 'em all out here.

EDIT:

OKAY FOR THOSE HOPING FOR A NEW GAME, I COME BEARING GIFTS!

This is a link to a thread about a fanmade mod of Keen 4. Not an "official" new game, no, but still fantastically made and it plays and looks EXACTLY like an official game! The link on the first page is bad, but somebody found their copy and made a mirror. You can download it here:

Wow, thanks for that. Commander Keen (Keen Dreams) was the first PC game I ever played. Love the franchise!

Keen Dreams was one of the last in the series that I ever played, and I always thought it took place after the rest actually. Heck, I thought it was made after them, too.

Surprised me to find out it doesn't have a set place in the storyline, and to find out it was released between the other six episodes.

My first was 4, Secret of the Oracle. I still remember the day I first saw my dad playing it back in '92. ^_^ Wasn't the first I'd ever played, but it was the first I got hooked on. =)

I think it was #4 I used to play, probably because it was shareware. If you have links to the shareware episodes, I'd cry a single tear in happiness.

I got some mediocre Game Boy Keen game many years later, but didn't play it much. It made you bounce on enemies with the pogo stick after stunning them, or else they came back to life.

Biggest bummer: accidentally going to "save game" instead of "load game" while in the middle of dying deep in the secret pyramid level.

I also had Captain Comic and Hocus Pocus.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

My descriptions have been approved. Check 'em out.

Also, I edited the download links into the appropriate descriptions. Hopefully when they get approved, they show properly.

Awesome, I'll have to go see which ones I've played.

OMFG!!!! ID SOFTWAREZ STARTED OFF AS A CASUAL GAMES COMAPNY!!!

All seriousness thought, I love the games, I still have them on my HD even today. What we needed was Keen redone instead of Rage.

Final update to the descriptions: I added Keen's birth name, William J. Blazkowicz II - grandson to B.J. Blazkowicz of Castle Wolfenstein.

Also, the download links are working now. =D

ps: I disagree about iD starting off on casual games. Keen is in no way "casual", man. There's a ton of hardcore stuff in these games... and Keen was the first real platformer to ever exist on the PC. Besides, it was before 3D games existed, so "hardcore" was different back then anyhow. :p

Commander Keen 5 - Best Jum&Run EVER. Probably the game I played through the most times.
