You mention Afro Samurai slightly in the section on Naruto. I'm interested if you got to play it at all. The title looks very interesting to me as a huge fan of the anime and the art style that seems to be within the game.

The issue I found with Afro Samurai was learning its controls.  Naruto was easy to understand and quick pick up and play.  Afro had this unusual sense of depth, however, it almost felt like it was forcing it on you instead of easing you in.  If I had more hands on time, I could tell, but it was a drop in the bucket in an abyss of amazing games.

The voice over work in the game, however, is quite well done.

I find it hard to believe left 4 dead looks miles better on pc... HL2 engine isn't pushing the limits of 360 in any means.

Otherwise great impressions...looking forward to Project Origin.

The PCs that were used were all running on extremely well built rigs.  The HL engine has never looked good on the 360 or PS3.  Ask Valve.  However, the game is really fun, and it should be one to not miss out on.  PS3 fans should be jealous.

So would you say Infamous is going to be a must have purchase?

Yes. Yes. And. YES.

No PS3 disappointments.....i like it!

Keep in mind that the writer of this PAX impressions topic is a pretty big PS3 fan. Imagine Starcraft writing his impressions...they would be exactly the opposite of this as he is looking forward to more 360 games.

I own all the consoles and am putting zero bias here.  Sony had a great showing, and most of these games have been in the cooker for years.  Don't relegate to labeling me anything.  Thanks.

Most of the games I mention are multiplatform.

I liked your preview and hence I didn't compare you to Rock_on or call you a fanboy. But lets be realistic here, looking at your post history and the games you own, I've never seen you post anything positive about the 360.

Also, I think comparing you to Starcraft in being his PS3 double is a compliment as he argues his 360 bias very well.

Then again, I wasn't at the pax show and maybe microsoft phoned in their booth.

PS. Very few people want Gears 2 to be drastically different from Gears 1 btw. More of the same on steroids is what we're hoping for...

I love the Xbox 360.  I can pm you my Xbox 360 user name and you can check my achivement history.  The fact of the show floor is, Sony had a great lineup.  This is NOT to say, Microsoft had a poor showing.  Far from it.  Microsoft had a great showing, with titles that will appeal to everyone, however, Sony just edged out.

The only real disappointment at the show was Nintendo.  I feel bad for Wii only owners.  I'm sorry guys, you can hate me if you want, but its the truth.

infamous?
i enjoyed spider man games in which i can jump like crazy. will i enjoy this game?

The other reviews I've read of Gears 2 (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/906/906841p1.html) and Left 4 Dead (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/906/906799p1.html) at Pax seem to disagree a bit with what you said here, but otherwise I'm totally jealous that I wasn't there to make up my own mind.

Work doesn't take me out to the west coast often but maybe I'll be lucky and be able to catch the East Coast PAX next year.

As a side note, I think it would be impossible not to let some bias into your review, regardless of how many consoles you own. Without reading any of your previous posts and just reading this one, I'd guess you skewed towards the PS3. Not a bad thing, but an honest assessment of your impressions above.

Yes.  The game will allow you to climb walls with spiderman type reflexes.  Also the electric powers that were shown off were really convincing.  The world really reacts to your character.  Take this all with a grain of salt, the game is 9 months away.  It looks great for what was shown though.

I tried to keep my impressions to unreleased titles.  If you want me to add more titles to the list, I would have put down Castle Crashers.  If I was a fan of the genre, Fable 2 would be up there as well.  The only real disappointment I had from Microsoft was Gears 2.  Sorry.

In other news, even though I dislike the title, the Halo 3 map shown off was amazing.
