Concerning Socom, yes it was playable.  It played like a mix between the first 2 games.  I talked to the dev for about half an hour.  I was thoroughly impressed with the title.  Its definetely worth buying for the headset.

As for Left 4 Dead.  The game is a stunner.  Its extremely fun, addictive, and most of all fresh.  If you don't own a 360, I'd suggest buying it for PC.  The specs to play this game are fairly low.  If not, there will be a PS3 port in the future.  I hammered the devs around, and they said, if the sales do well (which they will), it will land on PS3 :).

Nice read. Thanks for posting ^^

I have a few questions:

1. Mirror's Edge - Did the controls force you to use the D-pad at all? I ask because this could determine whether I buy it on the PS3 or 360 (if you do have to use the D-pad I'll get the PS3 version because I hate the one on the 360).

2. Left 4 Dead - Were there any obvious graphical glitches? I've watched video clips and seen players go through walls rescuing people from falling off of buldings, and zombies that walk through stuff as if they're ghosts.

I've also noticed that others players are highlighted in a blue or red colour, so that you can see them through walls and stuff. Does that look natural when you're playing it? Because it tends to stand out quite badly when I watch clips.

3. Fallout3 - Does it look good on a HD screen? I'm not really sold from what I've seen so far and this is one of my concerns.

Another concern is whether the combat works - would you feel comfortable, for example, taking on a group of enemies using just the normal shooter mechanics, or would you have to resort to that thing where you pause the game and choose a specific target area (sorry, forgot what that's called)?

4. Motorstorm 2 - You didn't like the 1st game by the sounds of it. I loved the 1st game and it's one of my favourite racers - my question is, will Motorstorm 2 appeal to fans of the 1st game?

1. Mirror's Edge was only demoed on the PS3.  Talking to the devs around, they said they love the Playstation 3 platform and that it was lead.  The game played very well on the dualshock 3.  With the exclusive DLC available on the PS3, I think you shuold definetely get it on the PS3 if you have that platform.

2. Left 4 Dead felt very natural while playing.  I didn't notice any glitches, but than again, the gameplay is so frantic, you don't really have time to.

3. Fallout 3 looks really good.  I'm not going to say it outdoes Uncharted, Gears, or MGS4, however, it looks upper tier, and the art direction lends to that.

The game doesn't play like a shooter.  Remember there are RPG mechanics.  Its a lot of stop, menu, shoot.  I feel like this might become irritating in the future.

4. Motorstorm 2, fixes the issues I had with the first game.  If you liked the first, I'm sure you will be more than satisfied with the sequel.

Did you notice any potential problems or hear any complaints about LBP? I was concerned with some potential camera issues with 4 player local play. Did people seem to have any issues completing tasks in the levels? Was there any incentive for them to work together to complete a level?

Thanks for the impressions.

We didn't have issues with the 4 player co-op.  We all kept dying though :).

Was it hard to play LBP?  It seems people struggle with it in the gameplay videos.  What about Resistance 2's graphics?  It sounds like it will be a lot of fun to play, but I haven't been overly impressed with any of the gameplay videos from a visual perspective.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Valkyria Chronicles- PS3- Sega- Read any preview, watch any video, and it will do this game no justice. Imagine Battalion Wars, only fun. This SRPG takes the boredom one experiences while playing a SRPG and relegates it with live action, input commands that are commonly found in shooters. All done with beautiful canvas graphics. THIS WAS MY FAVORITE RPG OF THE SHOW.

That one sentence pretty much moved me from sitting on the fence with valkirya chronicles to buying it. I always thought I missed out on Batallion Wars, having not owned a GC last generation. When BWii came out i borrowed my friends Wii so I could see what I was missing out on. As it turns out - I was not missing anything. The game simply was not fun to play, had poor wiimote implementation and poor graphics.

Also glad to see the positive reception (from yourself and the crowd) of some of the ps3's best upcoming games.

Joystiq had a positive hands-on as well which goes into a few details of the gameplay

They also had a hands-on with both Resistance 2 and Fallout 3

LBP can be as tough as or as easy as you want it to be.  The game level I played was hard since I was playing with guys who were seasoned gaming veterans.

R2 look good but not amazing, however, they made sure to reinforce all the polish of the game is NOT in.  Alot of the new tech is still missing and a ton of stuff on screen was Work In Progress. Heck, just look at Uncharted vids one month befire it shipped.

How were the environments and textures for The Conduit? Were the sound effects and music good in the game? Did you feel like the guns had power behind them?

How did the controls work for LBP?

The Conduit's environment's look pretty decent.  Think Half Life on low to medium settings.  Definetely respectable.  The guns didn't really have "power" but felt more like alien weapons from Halo.

The controls for LBP were pretty simple.  R1 grabbed things.  The left analog stick moved you between the foreground and background.  X made you jump.  The right analog stick controlled emotes.
