If Microsoft was willing to loose ALOT of cash on increasing the install base then possibly 3 Million .
Realisticly 1.5 - 1.9 Million life time sales.

the console seemed to be dead not long ago, but ever since the recent RPGs announcement, it seems as if the japanese market has regained some faith in the console. I would say that it beats 1M lifetime without trouble. If they manage well they could get to 1.5M, but I don't see them going much beyond, just because consoles and HD in particular seems too dead on the Japanses market.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
1.5 million
It will break 800k somewhere in februari 2009, so anyone who says 800k is obviously wrong.
I'd say the 360 has a decent chance to break 1.5 million in Japan, but definitely more than 1 million and less than 2 million.
I think it can reach 1 million....but anything over that is just a pipe dream

Anywhere from about 1.3m to 3m, depending on how Microsoft works to increase X360 sales.
1m is an absolute lock, and you'd have to be crazy (or a blind fanboy) to think it'd do less - look at the numbers!
2008 should be no less than 250,000 H/W units, but could be as much as 300,000.
2009 will be more due to SO4 and the X360 Slim - Maybe 300,000-400,000.
2010 on should be around 250,000/yr on average for upto 3 years.
That'd put it at an extra 1m+ units in my opinion, giving it around 1.7-1.9m LTD install base. Definitely not good compared to the PS3 or Wii, but amazing given how poorly the Xbox did, and the actual launch sales of the Xbox 360.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Have they confirmed a 360 slim? I was gonna get an Arcade just for Gears 2, but I think I might wait now if there's gonna be a Slim.
Xbox 360 should sell at least 1.2M to 1.5M depending if i does well enough.
"Like you know"
Yeah unless the 360 ends next year, it'll hit 1 million easily, so long as it's around for at least 2 more years.
I think alot of people are forgetting FFXIII and Star Ocean. As much as japan loves it's Nintendo and Sony, you can't ignore the fact that whilst MS is making a push for Japan, Sony has already given it up to Nintendo.
Look at Sony in the most near future, LBP, R2 and Killzone 2. Sure they have WKS, obviously FFXIII and Valkyrie in the future, but they seem less like JRPG market winning games (aside FF) and more like filling up the JRPG deficiency the PS3 has at the moment (like how Resistance one filled in the lack of genuinely great FPS's in the PS2's lineup in time for PS3 launch). Also, look at Sony's lineup thus far, I doubt you could name 10 games, without a google or net search, that are designed to appeal first and foremost to the Japanese market.
I'm going to say it'll end at 1 to 1.5... I think 2 million is a very small chance.
By the way, the term "JAP" is actually racist, that's why they're listed as "JPN" in the olympics.
