Forums - General - why do people hate sarah Palin?

It seems to me that a lot of people have gone to great lengths to destroy the reputation of this woman since she was chosen as McCains running mate.

I don't know as much about American politics as much as many of you, but I don't see why everyone is working so hard to bring her down. fair enough, I will agree that she is a tad underqualified, only being govenor of Alaska for two years. But people have made it their business to attack her personal life and not her proffesional life, which I think is just plain dirty.

The simple answer is - they're scared. See, when Hillary Clinton conceded to Obama, all the women voters supporting Clinton  went to Obama. Now there's another woman in the running, and the Obama supporters are afraid they will lose the women voters to McCain's side. Sarah Palin levels out the playing field, making this upcoming election a much closer race than previously expected.

I think even McCain would agree that Palin may be a political liability after everything that has happened this weekend.  The pregnant daughter story is getting national attention, as is her reversal on the "Bride to Nowhere."

McCain should be scared that Palin will sink his ticket.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I think quite the inverse - it shows her as a real person. Sure, she has made some bad moves, but shes a VP. Dan Quayle, anyone?

Her having a pregnant dauhter who is getting married to the father of the child-to-be strikes a chord with those down south, as it is a common situation in many households, but is going the proper route, to raise the child in a legit marriage. This will draw in the southern vote stronger. She also appeals to a lot of the conservatives out there, and this was the deciding group of people that got Bush back in the white house for 4 more years.

Personally, I hate them all. Im hoping for an independent to pop up. I think Obama won't live for long and we'll be back to some crazy old coot for a president. (Biden). McCain is old as well, God knows when the reaper's coming for him. So then we'd have Plain in office, and I think she'll be swarmed by her cabinet and advisors and become a puppet.

If I wasn't close with my family, I'd have moved out of the country by now =)

After spending a large part of the last two days reading about her, I dislike her due to her blatant "redneckedness". She seems like a white trash, Christian bigot, power monger. Those are qualities I saw in Bush and they are never good for leadership.

She is sport hunter, which I think is stupid and against God's message.

She is a typical hard core Christian, which is only a few minor steps below [insert religion] extremism.

She is against gay rights, which to me is simply another form of racism. Basically I think gays are the new nigger on the block. Yes bubbles, you can read into that.

She appears to be an abuser of her powers as a leader.

She is obviously only there because of Obama being black. McCain and his adviser's did not pick the best person for the job to complement McCain's real weaknesses. They picked the best person go against Obama's skin. They are trying to match the challenge Hillary gave him, ignoring the rest of the equation why Hillary was such a good opponent.

I use to really like McCain in 2000 and if he had won the nomination I might of voted for him instead of Nader. But, now he isn't even close to getting my vote due to his complete reversal on most of his positions and now this obviously bad choice. Just cements my view that he does not have the right intelligence to lead the country.

Regardless of what you think about Obama's experience, etc. He clearly picked a better running mate.

Here's the thing, conservatives like this woman attack everyone's personal life.  They want absistence only education, they want Creationism in schools, they want to ban same-sex relationships, they want to take women's rights to birth control away, and so forth.

and liberals want to encourage children to engage in sex, destroy family values,  kill babies, and so forth.

not to be a jerk, but since when has anyone encouraged children to kill babies?

seperate "encourage children to engage in sex" "destroy family values"  "kill babies"

edit:

although, teaching children that there isnt any problem with abortions is essentially that.

Nobody is pro-abortion and anti-family values.  For example, just because I'm "Anti-Religious-Doucheface" doesn't mean I'm against family values or wouldn't teach my children about the dangers of sex.

Just because liberals may not agree with your specific religious conservative stances does not make them anti-family values, it means they simply have DIFFERENT family values than you.

When I have children, I will tell them that abstinence is the way to go.  But I will also make damned sure that they are prepared for safe sex in the event that they decide to engage in it against their parents approval.  Does that mean I care for my children more than you do, because I want to teach them to be prepared for every possible scenario?  Probably not, just means I think you are completely misguided and are potentially harming your children, as Mrs. Palin has done to her daughter.

Kudos for bluntness.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

Because a lot of people really love Obama and can't except the fact that both sides can have good and bad ideas.

Therefore she's evil and must have all sorts of pointless shit drug up out of nowhere to make her look bad.

Well in my country if you can´t take down the image of a politician you just kill him, so you are ok people...
